Is this free software worth the download? I heard it works great creating MP3's, but creates other troubles and slowdowns. Any comments. Thanks.

I heard it works great creating MP3's, but creates other troubles and slowdowns. Any comments. Thanks. Warthog 08-12-2000, 09:27 AM I absolutely love it. I've tried Winamp, Windows Media Player 7 and all the others - none of them compare IMO. Go get it - now http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif. Warthog GOOMER 08-12-2000, 02:34 PM Music Match is one of the best bits of software I've downloaded. You can create CD's direct from MP3 without having to convert to WAV first and a lot faster than Adaptec CD Creator. Download and enjoy. M_Six 08-12-2000, 07:16 PM MM Jukebox also converts .mp3 files to .wav so you can burn them onto a CD for use with CD players. It is definitely a good download. Warthog 08-12-2000, 08:55 PM It converts mp3 to wav? How do you do that? Warthog OuTpaTienT 08-12-2000, 09:02 PM If you're getting it to make CDs, then it's ok. If you getting it to make MP3s from CD, then please do not. It is about the worst at making mp3s. Totally mangles the sound wave. That's all we need is more bad mp3s floating around. See here: http://www.r3mix.net/ **correction** MM jukebox can be ok to rip tracks from CDs, as long as you DO NOT use the XING encoder. Use the Fraunhofer encoder. If you have problems, it depends on what version you have and if your cd writer or cd/dvd player is compatable with it. My Yamaha Cd-rw works excellent with it, but my Toshiba Dvd player can't be used to make digital Mp3s. It falls back to analog and has "feedback". ... When you set it up, if you have two cd/dvd players, insert a disk in only one player so it can properly identify both and set-up accordingly. Otherwise if you load cds in all units it will install with support for generic cd/dvd drives. LiLRiceBoi 08-13-2000, 01:05 AM MM seems kinda slow...how can i make it fast? Would anyone recommend other software for ripping cds? [This message has been edited by LiLRiceBoi (edited 08-13-2000).] M_Six 08-13-2000, 04:00 AM Warthog, I don't have it here at home, so I'm going from memory, but I think it's Options => File => Convert, or maybe Open => File => Covert. In any case, pull down the menus and look around. The default is to convert .wav to .mp3, but you can switch that. Let me know if you have problems. I'll be in the office tomorrow and I'll be able to talk you through it better. (Don't tell my boss.) jim.t 08-13-2000, 05:54 AM Thanks folks. I almost had it downloaded yesterday when we had a power spike and lost the dadgum thing. I may bring it down abd take a look. Thanks Jim. Warthog 08-13-2000, 10:55 AM Thanks, M_Six! The first one worked. Thanks a lot! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif Warthog greenlion 08-13-2000, 11:38 AM LiLRiceBoi, get CDex. It's freeware and very simple to use. It can rip cds to wav, mp3, and then some. You can get the software from nonags.com GOOMER 08-13-2000, 01:52 PM Why would you want to convert mp3 to wav to burn cds when you can burn them straight from mp3????? Warthog 08-13-2000, 02:32 PM With Adaptecs Easy CD Creator, I didn't think you could do that... Warthog M_Six 08-13-2000, 02:57 PM I've burned a million data CDs, but only two music CDs for a friend. Can you play mp3 files on a regular CD player? Warthog 08-13-2000, 05:25 PM ummmmm....no Goomer, you want to explain? Warthog Gutter Ball 08-13-2000, 05:42 PM I use audio grabber to rip the CD's and then I use MP3 CD Maker to make the music. MP3 CD Maker even has the normalize function to make all the music the same volume level too! My Jukebox has problems ripping CD's. It always restarts, even if I have nothing else running...it'll get to like 10% and then it'll start over :/ So I just use that to listen now. GOOMER 08-15-2000, 09:41 AM Warthog, I was just wondering why there woulds be a need to convert MP3S to WAVs using Music match jukebox to create a cd using Adaptec Cd Creator when it would be a lot easier and quicker to create the cd using Music match Jukebox itself straight from MP3s???? Navin 08-15-2000, 10:25 AM It is my understanding (and my normal practice) that in order to listen to mp3's on a cd, you have to convert the mp3 to a wave file. The file has to be uncompressed for the cd to read it. Unless, there is software out there that enables a cd-rom to read compressed sound files...Gutter Ball, is that what you're referring to? waferdog 08-15-2000, 10:46 AM There are CD players out there now that can read .MP3 files off of the CD. The catch is that they are not cheap. So unless you are just listening off of your computer, you probably need to have the music in .wav format, like Navin stated. jjsole 08-15-2000, 01:00 PM MusicMatch Upgrade: Anyone pay for it and feel its worth it? GOOMER 08-15-2000, 02:24 PM Sorry for any confusion Musicmatch will convert MP3s to audio tracks ready to burn to A CD without the need to convert to WAV first. Just create a playlist and then select create cd from playlist. Goomer neo_otyugh 08-16-2000, 12:05 AM i use cdex for ripping, winamp for playback and burn mp3 to cda with nero....they all work great musicmatch doesn;t seem thta bad to me, i just liked having several small low resource programs that i felt did their individual taks better jad1097 08-16-2000, 12:23 AM I also use MusicMatch. I have several MP3CD's and they hold about 10-12 hours of music. There is a portable MP3CD player available now for about $100, the price is not that bad. SysOpt.com
