Some dumb kid decided to copy a stunt fro the MTV show "Jackass". The police arrested his friend for tossing the match that ignited the gasoline he hae poured on himself. 2nd and 3rd degree burns..... I know how that feels and it ain't a good feeling. Think his parents are idiots too?

Got a match?

Pretty bad when television can be blamed for bad parenting

until you have kids and see what the do after watching a show on T.V. you can not argue that it's the kids fault that he/she is stupid.
I ended up getting rid of cable T.V. just becouse of all the **** my kids had access to.

and it's not just limmited to T.V.

my 3 year old has never seen the Power rangers in her life.
Some of the little boys at her day care watch that **** and started the Power **** moves and sayings at day care Guess what my 3 year old little girl started doing for over a month till the day care put a end to it all.

#1 RULE KIDS LEARN FROM EXAMPLE be it mom and dad or T.V. or The kid down the block
and most 3 to 10 year olds are not going to understand or pay attention to do not try this at home DID you ?

I happen to have five children, who have gone through the Power Ranger phase, and all the other phases that come into the forefront of popular shows.
It is the parents responsibility to monitor their kids tv shows, and to decide which shows are appropriate. When my kids find a new show they want to watch, we sit down with them and watch a few episodes of it . Then we decide if it is too violent, or otherwise a bad show for them.
Sure, we blame the shows, but we also must blame ourselves for allowing it . But in no way would I try to sue a tv show for our kids repeating an act they see on it.
But I have to agree, this one was just plain STUPID!!!

I would vote to put this in the Darwin Awards. What was this kid thinking? And where were the parents? The father is making it even worse, trying to sue MTV.

Didn't something somewhat similar happen when some kid was lighting stuff on fire after Beavis and Butthead said fire was cool or something?

I think that kid letted one go and held a match near his @$$. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif

I'd say it isn't MTV's fault. It depends on the age of the kids who's fault it is; the father or the kids.

One of my dads friends works for Glock (correct spelling?), he said they once had a case of a man who was cleaning his loaded gun when all of a sudden...you guessed it...the bullet shot through the wall and killed a women who was sleeping in her bed.

So what does this professor do ?...he sues Glock !...he obviously lost, and I guess was charged with something.

What do people like that expect from life ?.

In a nutshell, NDC.. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif you are correct.
KKF, A while back, a motorcycle helmet maker here in the states (Bell) had a special fund set up to counter-sue people who brought frivolous lawsuits against them.
One lucky woman was good enough to get sued back because her husband had been killed while wearing one of their helmets and got involved in a traffic accident.
What was the problem? you ask...well she felt that bell was responsible because their product didn't protect her husbands head from being crushed by the the rear tandems of a LOADED CONCRETE TRUCK!! On the D.O.T sticker inside the helmet,it plainly says"this helmet cannot protect against all forseeable impacts".
It seems like common sense has gone by the wayside, doesn't it?

I have a Glock pistol, and for that person to circumvent all the safety features, and to be cleaning it while it was loaded, shows he has no business owning a firearm. When I hear about things like that, I'm glad I don't live in an apartment anymore, you never know what the mental capacity of your neighbors are http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

I know this is off the topic, but....

To be honest with ya, D.O.T approved (Department of Transportion) sticker would come on a helmet that you got out of a 25 cent bubble gum machine! LOL The real sticker that proves the quality of the helmet would be "Snell" approved... I used to race and work in motorcycle shop in Van Nuys California at Cycle Trends so I'm quite familiar with this kinda stuff. Hey, has any of you motorcyclist been there before? http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

Although this kid was a teenager...
MTV DOES have SOMETHING to do with it...
(Although i love the show and think it's hilarious) Jumping off a roof, lighting yourself on fire for the hell of it, cooking steaks pinned to a guy, slinging people into a slimy lake..

When these guys are hurting they try to tough it out, and then a kid sees it and figures that it can't hurt (WTF kind of kid doesn't know what gasoline does..)
