You can start out in ham radio now with the "no Code" tech class license. Limits you to the 2 meter but it's much easier than having to know Morse code just to get into the ham radio's

You can operate any ham radio you want without a licence. Do you KNOW how annoyed they get when you use a hadnle like "rubber-chicken" and refuse to give out a proper amature call-sign?

Yep, I use The mid and high block in the UK.

We still use them in the 4x4 club I'm a member of. But I also have a 2meter ham radio that I carry when I snowmobile in the backcountry.

Yeah i have two cb's. One with Mid band, muppet band (high band) and splits. The other is just a straight 40 channel high band.

For any interstate driver, they beat the heck out of any radar detector out there. They also come in handy for avoiding traffic backups and accidents. Nobody knows the roads better then a truckdriver.

i have some 40 chanell`s and 3, 23 tube radios.i use cb`s all the time. there helpful when i go camping.

i tried the ham test and only passed the first part.did the fcc change the test again.i took it about 2 years ago.still working on the code.bought radio shack tapes.

23 channel Cobra 21A, an oldie but a goodie.
Just crank it up on the interstate.

i tried code because my grandfather was in ham.some of my friends are on 2 meter,but i want to do more.working on some home made radios, and kickers.not many ham shops in maine.still looking for a tube for my oscilloscope.want to try atv also.

And then face the fines when the FCC tracks you down and catches you. Believe me when I say the FCC has the ability to track down anyone interfering with the amateur radio service, including people operating without a license.

i would not operate a ham radio without a licens.i dont even use my friends converted 10 meter radios.ive thout about the little 'family radios'they sell for camping and hunting.but for now ill stick to my 3 crystal hand held cb.i love talking on am.also have some tube bases.my handle is bubba goose.i live in maine.

-Various tubed equipement....

Used to be known as "Heavy Metal". However, I haven't even turned a CB on in over two years.

Hey Rob Rich! I used to go really crazy with my CB's. If I wasn't inside the boxes, I was up on the roof trying out a new antennae! I ALMOST miss those days...

Used to have a Uniden President HR2510 (10-meter ham mobile modified to increase modulation and cover the 27 mhz CB freq's) with a power mic and a Wilson 1000 antennae in the van. A Unniden President Washington AM/SSB in the house. Seems like I had a 350 mod in the car and a 500 in the house.

But the neighbors didn't mind too much, I had everything rididculously grounded and with low-pass filters on everything.

What were the power mic's called - astatic something... Almost remember.

Who knows, maybe I'll get another CB to put in the car again, I used to love that, and besides, I always had someone to talk to in the car.

i have a maco 5/8 on the house an old rat shack on the car.pdl 2 i hope to put up this spring.all i have in my car is a510.the battery cant handle my 100w kicker. when i turn it on at night my headlights dim when i key up.

I haven't used a CB in years. It's on a shelf in my so called "Tool/Junk Room." Haven't used it since we stopped taking road trips back to western Pennsylvania <better known as the rust bowl>. Sometimes I would talk to truck drivers and get/give bear <police> reports. Now that the old one's passed on <my billion year old cat>, maybe we'll start traveling again.
