How do you stop Win98 searching for a floppy disk each time control pannel is accessed???
It is really anoying. (In polite tearms)

Virus programs will cause this. Also click on start run. If the command line starts with A:\ then type sysedit and OK. Then close out sysedit....

Steve's right about usually it being an AV program set to scan floppies.
Another thing to try is clearing out the shortcuts in your document menu. Every time I access something of a floppy, the same happens to me until I remove the shortcut from the menu.

Yeah must be AV because it doesn't happen to me - tweek the settings and it shouldn't (I don't think).

Thanx dave for the advice, but it's not done anything. I have done everything that Win98 anoyences suggests with no luck. This is really starting to p**s me off. I think i'll end up formatting the computer.

I haven't got any AntiVirus software installed on my machine at the moment. I have tried all of the other suggestions too, but it seeks the floppy drive each time control pannel is loaded. Any other suggestions???
