....of unhappy IE 5.5 users. After working very well for 3 weeks or so, it decided to head south on me last weekend. Lockups, slowdowns, bluescreens, error messages...you name it, it did it!! Finally re-installed 5.1, and everything is well again. Back to the d/b MS.

I have had explorer 5.1 now for quite some time, and never even considered installing 5.5

Cause I heard several people say that it was kinda crappy, so.....

And besides, if it works fine, why upgrade it for just 1 version newer??

Okay, I realize that when yer using IE 3.0 and 5.1 is coming out, ya might wanna consider upgrading, cause it'll probably be a whole lot faster.

I have installed IE 5.5 and was very disappointed in the performance. It was kinda like a down-grade rather than an upgrade. Internet browsing got slower. I tried optimising the MTU setting on cable modem connection, but didn't do much at all. Now I am back to IE5.01 and very happy with it. To top it off, it made my Adaptec Easy CD-Creator unsuable after uninstalling IE5.5. I though that that the problem just existed on my system but, later found out that other systems had the same performance using IE 5.5 as well.

Microshaft forgets its lessons quickly. After complaints about IE4 size & bloat, they listened & trimmed down IE5x -- & got it right. Seems they forgot that & went back to "bloat" w/IE5.5.

IMO there is a definite speed difference between 5.1 and 5.5. So now, I use netscape as a second browser which kicks **** over explorer.
