Hi guys. First here are my system specs:

Cel 566 @ 910 or PIII 800 @ ? (got both)
384 PC100
2-- 20GB WD 7200 rpm hdds
Promise ATA66 Fasttrak
2-- 2.1 GB 5400rpm hdds (backup)
Soyo 6VBA+100 (w/ ATA100 Highpoint RAID0)
GeForce 2 32MB (CL A2)
[b]SB Live Value
2 PCI NIC
350W PS

My question is:
DO I use the Highpoint controller onboard for RAID0 or the Promise Fasttrak?

I know about the Highpoint/ SB problem but i could use the PCI slot for other stuff. LMK soon if you could b/c I should be ready to install the OS by 12 EST.
Thanks
Dave

I would use the ATA66 card instead of the ATA100.
Why???

Cause non of those harddisks will run even near ATA100, and if ya put it in yer machine, it will run, but it will also age, and maybe even break down.

I would keep the ATA100 card aside for a time when ya do have hd's that are able of running ATA100.

And about the cpu, if that 800Mhz PIII is a coppermine, which it probably is(LOL), I would get that one.
It has twice the L2 cache that the celeron has, and it also runs at full speed, so it should be a great deal faster, somebody correct me if I'm wrong here.
I mean, 128Kb at 900Mhz, or 256Kb at 800Mhz+??
Not that much of a difference in speed, now is there??

Pim

Btw, and if ya wanna o/c that PIII, you better trade yer 384Mb pc100 for say 196 or 256Mb pc133, will come in pretty handy, I can tell ya that.

Thanks Ultima. The RAM is 1 stick gen PC133 and 2 sticks of Infineon PC133 that can do 133. I was thinkning the same with the cpu.
thanks
