I got a Ricoh 6X/4X/24X SCSI CDRW Drive (Media Master) with a Tekram SCSI Card and its been working fine but these days when i try to burn data onto a CDRW it wont finish the job. I always get underrun errors. If i burn mp3 onto a CDRW as an Audio CD it works perfectly. I defragmented my whole hard drive and scandisk my drive too. I've been using Adapatec EZ CD 4.01. Any suggestions how to correct this? Thanks for the input.

You could try starting the burn and then walk away from your PC and dont touch it until it is done. Also, Turn off any screensavers or programs that might take up some of the CPUs and HDs time. Or, you could go out and buy a new Plextor 12x10x32. It is capable of getting arround the buffer underrun by stopping the burn, waiting for the buffer to fill again and then start where it left off. Hope this helped some.

Sometimes the source is sufficiently scrambled that the HDD access can't keep up with the demand. Set the write speed down a notch and try again. If this is happening when cloning an existing data CD, try creating a HDD image first. Both have been helpful when I've received that message.

The Plextor is a fine drive, but a rather expen$ive solution.

Well I guys that you might try starting the burn in test mode, then the hard drive, and then to the CD at a 1x setting. It may take longer but if you get another buffer underrun problem it will be in test mode and you won't just be making another coaster.

It is humbling that you should do so, but setting the burn speed slower is the easiest way to fix this.

I have been trying to burn data CDs at 1X speed and 2X speed. No luck. I always image a CD before burning and it still gets hung up. Do you think its because my hard drive is too full? I have a small HD (4 gigs) about 3.0 GB full. And another thing thats weird is when i try to burn data CDs in EZ CD 4.01 and set the speed 1X it always (by itself) changes the speed to 2X. Any other suggestions?
