Ok i built this new system and it acts pretty badly.
It shuts down by its self and restart (not a windows reboot) and i get blue error screens and all sorts of errors all the time.

This is what it consists of

Shuttle Ai61 mother board
AMD Athlon 700 mhz
128mb ram at 133 mhz
two maxtor hard drives a 13 and a 40 gig (tried each one independntly get the same problem)
a netgear pci network card (fa310tx)
Huappuage WINTV PCI card
I/O MagicSound 3d sound card
TNT2 32 mb agp video card

And thats it for hardware tried all sorts of things but it is still unstable as hell. Ive tried win95 And win98 and Second Edition and Windows Mellenium which seems to be more stable so im running this currently.
Some one please help give me some ideas on what could be wrong. Ive tried mixing and matching the hardware and i think it might be my network card since im on a cable modem and it crashes most noticably when im accessing something from the internet.
Just help me please.
Thanks

I bet your network card and video card are sharing an IRQ. It is supposed to be able to work, but any time I have had this happen it always caused instabilitly. Check to see if they are sharing and if so force one of them to a different IRQ via the BIOS or by switching slots.

Besides checking of IRQ sharing issue you can do the following:
1. get latest BIOS version for your MB
2. get latest chipset drivers
3. get latest video card drivers
all of these is usually available on the web-sites of your hardware manufacturers.
These 3 things are most often responsible for instability.
Btw, do you have 300W power supply (it's critical for Athlon systems) ?
Good Luck

For reference, I like to go to "System Information" and make a copy to floppy disc. This will list any conflicts and sharing as well as problem devices(periphals). Two, this will be a copy of the system in its original configuration. Don't try to print Sys Info as mine was 92 pages long. lotsa luck, DrVette
