VIRGIN, Utah (AP) - This tiny southern Utah town has enacted an ordinance requiring a gun and ammunition in every home for residents' self-defense.

Most of Virgin's 350 residents already own firearms so the initiative has lots of support, Mayor Jay Lee said.

Residents had expressed fear that their Second Amendment right to bear arms was under fire so the town council modeled a similar measure passed by a Georgia city about 12 years ago.

The mentally ill, convicted felons, conscientious objectors and people who cannot afford to own a gun are exempt.

A small town here in Ga had the same ordinance enacted about 10-15 yrs ago.

Their exemptions included the households that felt they didn't need, want or whatever the reason, a weapon.

This was just a symbol to our Dictatorship government that the citizens feel the need to be armed(right or Wrong)

Oddly, for some unknown reasons, several crimes dropped after the ordinance.

Burglary, armed robbery and the like fell from 75%-90% immediately after this was put into effect.

Gee, I wonder why.

Doc,

If it make you feel any better it takes about 30 minutes to trailer my snowmobiles to were we enjoy sledding the majority of the time (as a family). But when I go with the "boys" we trailer the sleds about 2-2.5 hours get into the "mean" back country mountains (where it's nothing but steep and deep!). I cant wait until I buy my next "pulling" vehicle as it will cut down the trailering time! It will be either a Ford powerstroke diesel or the new Chev/GMC with the Isuzu diesel and Allison tranny in it! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/biggrin.gif Both just have tons of grunt and plenty of highway cruzin' speed (which my current diesel blazer lacks)

Btw. I have tried "panning" and it was kinda fun for about an hour and then my back was hurting to much to enjoy it http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/frown.gif There is several gold and silver mines going to this day.

Hey RC!

Not to infringe on your personal life here, but does this medical condition have anything to do with that thriller airplane near/miss you posted a few days ago? Just curious. That was a pretty traumatic story, I think after being in that situation I'd be aduldt!

Mntsnow- Our family might go to Snowbird, this coming spring, maybe ill catch you on the slopes :-)

http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif I love Utah too. But I still don't own a gun. I think my 45 minute radius overlaps yours quite a bit Mntsnow. BTW it snowed at my house today - some is still on the ground. How about you?

TechJumper, if the forum can stand a repeat of my horror stories from flying,, I'll do a repeat.

That one only aged my by 75yrs,
and it was a relatively mild one..

I have living witnesses to ALL of these very TALL stories,, and on several I have camcorder footage to prove the story is not embellished or a total fabrication..

Appropriately enough, I picked up my renewed 5 year CCW permit on election day. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

I hope Al Gore doesn't get a chance to sign the current bill in Congress that would allow the Federal Government to over-rule the States Rights on concealed carry laws.
