How do I tell what version of Windows is installed on a computer? Does Control Panel/System distinguish between versions 2.0, 2.1, 2.5 etc.?

You can run ver command in dos prompt, that say windows versioon.

Go into control panel and double-click the System icon. Choose the "General" tab, and look at the version code, translated as follows:

4.00.950 = Original retail version
4.00.950a = OEM Service Release (OSR) 1
4.00.950b = OEM Service Release (OSR) 2.0 without USB supplement and OSR 2.1 with USB supplement
4.00.950c = OEM Service Release (OSR) 2.5

With 4.00.950B, will the system tell you if it has USB supplement or not?

In the Add/Remove programs option in the control panel you can find if the USB supplement is installed or not.

Insert windows 95 cd-rom disk and install USBSUPP.EXE. This is located on Windows 95 OEM cds with USB Support. It is not always automaticaly loaded on your windows install. You may have to do a "find", I forget which folder it's in. If you have the latest version of "b" it should be there. Then go ahead and install.
