can't seem to win with these idiots!!!!!!

I have been trying to pick up a nice heatsink and fan for my Pentium III 450. So I went to 2 of the main computer stores. I ask them if they had any nice heatsink/fan combo's to keep my processor nice and cold. -hint hint-... The first thing out of there mouth is "Intel doesn't make a Pentium III." Ok....I let it slide and just go on asking for a nice fan combo... They go and get this 6 dollar piece of **** thing that is smaller then the one originally on the cpu and it says for Pentium II. So I tell the guy I need a bigger one, you know for overclocking.. and one for my Pentium III. Both people in both stores still confront me about it only being a pentium II not a pentium III. So the argument starts....I tell them yes it is a pentium III. and yes intel makes a pentium III. Both of em' just get mad at me and say "well thats all we got, sorry" and basically walk off.

There are actually dumb-@$$3$ like that.A lot of those guys don't even know what overclocking is and don't understand that a bigger heatsink is actually better than a small one.Don't even bother to ask for an Alpha or Global Win,because they will ask you if that is an Italian or Japanese car and no,we don't sell cars.They think that thermal paste is something that will keep your teeth 'cool' or 'hot' when you use it to brush your teeth with."Anyway,it must have got something to do with temperature...I guess..."

Those people actually build computers to sell to their clients.Scary...You don't even know what you will get,the guy that builds it for you doesn't know that either.He might say it's a PIII-40.According to him the PIII-450 doesn't exist,because they were only build up to 400mhz.If you want a 450 you have to get a 'Pentium K7-3+ or sumtin'.

You can't blame the sales people all the time! Remember, "ignorance is bliss", and you probably met two very blissful people.

In this economy, stores are fortunate to get a human with an actual pulse to be selling their wares. And actually having any knowledge about the product is good, but definitely OPTIONAL!

I'd be disappointed with the store for not having given these folks some rudimentary training. I mean, they'd be complete idiots if they just stuck their heads in the proverbial sand and ignored your informaing them that indeed there is such as beast as a PIII. And some folks are even using them! Heck, I just saw that hokey Intel commercial with the "Blue Man Group" shooting three stripes of green paint onto a tall white wall to denote the III in PIII!!

So, these encounters at these stores should tell you that they are definitely the wrong place for you to buy computer "stuff". You need a more savvy vendor that will be able to technically give-and-take with you without being either ignorant or condescending.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that they are aware of Pentium III's but they argued that Intel NEVER made a 450 Pentium III. One person even went to the trouble of looking it up on the internet? All I wanted is a nice fan so I can overclock the thing without it getting to hot. I really didn't think it would be this hard. But, oh well.
