You might have a program with a memory leak...this is caused when a program shuts down and doesnt know how to release the memoriy it was using. restart the computer and see how much it shows....as for the fallce, let me see if its a virus or not..one sec.

...didnt see any mention of fallce here http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/

You could start by weeding out stuff that unnecessarily start at bootup. Go to start, run, type in "msconfig"-drop the quotes. See all those programs with checkmarks? They are taking resources get rid of as many as you can.System tray, scanreg, loadpowerprofile, they stay, the rest is up to you to weed out, your system will run fine with those running, the rest is bloat IMHO.
System resources are not the same thing as RAM. You can have 128MB of ram and have *system resource* problems. To read about loss of resources in windows,a 3 part article is here. (http://www.winmag.com/columns/explorer/2000/11.htm)

Thx, Spark25, very interesting. I never knew that info about GDI, memory not being released, etc. Informative and I appreciate it. The link in your post is considerate.

thanmk you spark25,i weeded out a LOT of **** there including Hidserv (server.exe a.k.a sub7) and from the second the desktop appears it only takes about 15 seconds to load.(instead of 2 minutes, wich was a problem because the screen saver was set on 1 minute then it started and froze it for another 3 minutes.heh)
