I am an electrician. We just finished
wiring a 20-apartment building. This
last week I turned on the building's
power and I spent all week diagnosing
and fixing its problems. I love it b/c:
1. great boss, never yells
2. good $
3. like to find problems and fix them,
its like solving a fun puzzle! =)
WHY DO U LOVE YOUR JOB?
Snuffy!

I love my job, because my boss constantly yells at me, and it builds up more and more rage in me, so the more she yells at me, the more sweet it's gonna be when I quit (soon), because the more anger I will explode out of me. I can't wait.
I love my job because:
I can play with computers all day.
I get to flirt with all the cute little office girls.
I get to go to all the office parties, and an occasional party by the executives.
And it just feels good to have a "Corporate" credit card http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

I also am an electrician and I hate my job. Why? Because I have become tired of fixing other peoples screw ups. Why must I always be the one to fix other peoples screw ups? Trouble shooting is no fun, I worked on/ran a service truck for about 10 years. Crawling under houses and in attics it not fun. Getting hit by 277V is not fun. Having all my tools stolen several times was not fun. Working outside during winter or summer is no fun. Oh god I could go on forever.
It is a bit better now since I have a job doing motor controls, PLC's, etc.. in a climate controlled environment. No doubt I will get tired of it by spring.
I guess I am just burned out after doing it for so long.
BBA looks like a sweet job.

I love my job, cause:
1: I am 23 and get paid 1200USD netto!!
2: I can sit all day, working with powerfull cows.
3: Often there is nothing to do, and then I get to fill up my own time, and still get paid.
So, I would get paid for making a web page for myself, do a little surfing etc etc.
Pim
Because I am kept busy.
One of the reasons I changed jobs was because I wasn't going anywhere and the work was dull and monotonous. On the other hand, really great people to work with...
Now I'm up to eyeballs in work, just run a telephone fundraising campaign, and I've got my own small Novell/Win9x network to run, and they order stuff when I ask for it. Mad thing is, one of the secretaries just got a PIII800 for word processing. It will be mine within the week muhahahahahahah!!!
Oh yeah, new server to set up soon, with RAID 5, and we have SCSI devices etc, loads of new stuff for me to learn http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
Now the new students have started, I'm also involved in installing Ethernet cards, assigning IPs etc... all 140 of them... I'm sure the novelty will wear off after a while!

Good $
Company Credit Card - I agree BBA - Nice to have even if I don't get to use it much.
Company Laptop. (700mhz Dell screamer)
Company pays for DSL at home.
Company pays for school and cert tests.
Get to travel some, but not TOO much - so far have been to Seattle and Michigan, going to Comdex in LV next month and maybe going to the UK early next year.
When it's slow I surf or study for my certs.
When it's not slow it's really a blast! I love troubleshhoting and fixing problems!
I guess I'm a company man.... hmmmmm....
They actually pay me to play with servers - learn more about technology - give me open internet access and a good wage - insurance - training from time to time - the ability to buy new toys for the office - a second phone line at the house for remote support - paid vacations - a laptop - a 401K plan - stock options - time away from home......
And - on some things technological - the final say.......
And - I don't have to manage anyone - not that I dislike managing people - if it just weren't for all the bone-head HR rules you have to enforce......
Being a techie - I don't have to put up with most of the office politic BS which life is too short for.......
And - at the moment - I am part of a strong - smart team where-in no-one needs a baby-sitter or someone to keep them moving.....
Now if it just weren't for rush-hour traffic - this job would almost be perfect.....

Despite the electric shop, occasional work in the computer shop has it's advantages, such as getting all the parts you'll ever want out of the basement!! They let me salvage some stuff - they didn't notice me walking out the door with a full tower case under each arm http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

I am a programmer / analyst (big ERP software system used at a fitness equip mfg company)
I love my job because...
1) It challenges my mind - They bring me problems, I give them solutions.
2) It is varied, somedays it is user education and somedays it's digging around in code. Somedays it's writing reports and the like.
3) This one is a little complicated - you have to know me. Because it's technical environment, most of my colleagues are highly educated people . I am self trained in SQL and the ERP system proprietary code.(I'm considered a hacker). Being the underdog, so to speak, motivates me a great deal. Having had come from manufacturing environment - I'm very user conscious. As a result, I feel I do better job of meeting their needs. It is very rewarding to see people using the stuff I have fixed/created.
4) Again, being a technical environment, there is less supervision. I'm left to my own devices. My boss only shows up when something really goes wrong, and he's pretty laid back, so no matter what the pressure, it just doesn't seem as bad.
5) Of course, being in an IT group, there's always the techie perks: powerful laptop, plus a desktop choked with peripherals, and any other gadget I can even remotely justify.

After XX yrs I did Love my job.
It was difficult, demanding, and constantly changing presenting a new challenge very often.
Now, I FREAKING HATE MY JOB, My time in Jail was More pleasurable.
My boss's nickname is "Adolph"
His boss is called "Little General" or "Napolean"
His boss has super-glue permanently affixed to his fingers(get it?)
The upper management has so many working under them with SO VERY much embarrassing information and info that would put them in Federal Prison that now "Status Quo" is the catchword.
Safety is a phrase that is used often, but safety is seldom used.
Southern Style means "We hired you from the neck down, SHUT THE F*** UP "
Fairness and Equality means that management makes sure their pals get the good jobs.
The less work you do, the more likely you are to SUCCEED.(GET PROMOTED)
Affirmative action means they hire a minority to fill a previously "non-existent" position.
Then they treat them like mushrooms.
"Keep them in the dark and feed them SH**.
Obeying federal mandates such as OSHA regulations means the inspectors come by and view obviously hazardous conditions including potential FATAL ones, and leave us with a CLEAN bill of health.
They get a little visit at their motel room PRIOR to the inspection(WE THINK)
Upper Executives don't have to pay for housing, it is built with company labor, materials and plans. This has been going on
for decades.
One whistle blower was discredited by the local State Newspaper, who just happens to be in the pocket of the company.
The same whistle-blower had a little accident.
First a dead canary was delivered to his home PRIOR to his testimony.
After his court date, the company jet he was flying in had a "Mechanical Malfunction" crashing killing all aboard.
This may be the last time you hear from me also, as this company is not mob related, but they ARE THE MOB.
Laugh, giggle, whatever,
God as my witness, these people are the embodiment of SATAN
