Barney 10-10-2000, 11:17 PM We Dutch people don't use soy sauce, not much soy products in general.Maybe some stores sell soy sauce, but I've never used it and have no idea what it tastes like. Ronald Gomer 10-10-2000, 11:19 PM There are different kinds of Soy Sauce??????? Oh the things you learn at SysOpt. I use Soy Sauce.. Heck, I don't even know what brand it is. You could say that I am not too picky as long as it gets the job done. Goes with the college student territory I guess. Graham 10-11-2000, 08:47 AM Gomer, There is even light soy sauce and dark soy sauce, probably others !! I prefer dark, it has more flavour. Dunno about brands though, perhaps you gotta eat(drink)a lot to tell. G Underclocked 10-11-2000, 08:48 AM Kikkoman is the best IMHO. Lots of salt though. U-96 10-11-2000, 02:55 PM I'm not sure of the brand, but I really like the stuff that comes with Pret a Manger's sushi kits. Not bitter, not overly salty, but really deep and rich....mmmmmmm with raw tuna and wasabi http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif Gomer 10-11-2000, 03:33 PM What next???? Different kinds of rice? http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif Sheesh RobRich 10-11-2000, 03:51 PM Kikkoman all the way! I've been eating a tone of oriental food here lately, don't really know why? Just convenient I gues. Later, Robert Richmond Szech 10-11-2000, 04:18 PM Hey Gomer! What kind of rice do you like? Short grain rice, medium grain rice, long grain rice, sticky rice, brown rice, wild rice, broken rice, rice noodles, rice paste, parboiled rice, milled rice, rice cakes, instant rice, minute rice, sweet rice, aromatic rice, paddy rice, rice bran, rice flour, basmti rice, sh*****i rice, camolino rice, texmati rice, or wehani rice? http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif Uncle Ben doesn't know what the half is! Win_98 10-12-2000, 12:07 AM I think you guy could already guess that if you eat soy sauce, you also eat rice as well. I think maggai soy sauce are actually worst for your health, it has the most MSG and toxic chemical in it that dissolve your bone slowly so it weaken your bone in the long run, making it snap in no time. I think kikkoman is used in every chinese restaurant if you guy did not know that. la choy soy sauce is actually the most bitter soy sauce I ever tasted, one lick and that all I could take. Szech 10-12-2000, 01:15 AM I like Kikkoman the most. However, in my happy little apartment, 1.5 of my roommates are Vietnamese, and Maggai is the Soy Sauce of choice for them (they said it's a Vietnamese thing, go figure). I tried it once and OMG, it was like ocean water. I couldn't take all that salt, it was disgusting. They tell me that my Kikkoman tastes bland, so to answer your question, I think it depends on your tastes. Gomer 10-12-2000, 07:51 AM Yeah I like rice. narayan 10-12-2000, 03:30 PM kikkoman. yeah. Want something spicy, try Dave's Insanity Sauce. RobRich 10-12-2000, 03:36 PM For spicy, check out "Da' Bomb". It rates at 1.5 million on the spice heat index scale (per standard unit). For comparison, Louisiana Hot Pepper Sauce rates at a mere 5,000. Later, Robert Richmond Szech 10-12-2000, 03:52 PM Yeah, I always suspected that Maggai was full of bad stuff. I am not used to a lot of salt, or MSG, and I can tell when food is loaded with it. When I went to China this summer, the Mandarin food that I ate was FULL of grease and salt/MSG. Blech. jadinolf 10-12-2000, 04:48 PM Kikkoman all the way. The soy sauce served at the Chinese restaurants in my locale leaves a lot to be desired. I've been tempted to bring along a bottle of Kikkoman when I go to them. pickel 10-13-2000, 01:41 AM Here , in Mississippi, we take our soy beans ,run them thru a Vegomatic, boil them in the microwave , strain them thru a sive, add whatever seasonings you like, simmer for 2 hours on the stove, refigerate for two days and then go to the Chinese restuarant for dinner cause all we know is Italian food LOL giant69 10-13-2000, 01:46 AM kikkoman all the way...la choy leaves a bad after taste and seems to me to leave a bitter taste on food the_deacon 10-14-2000, 06:15 PM neither, over here there's this other kind of soy sauce that is sweet and realy thick. it's called kecap manis (literally it translates to sauce sweet). i used that one most foods that permit me to. tastes great u guys should go to an asian supermarket and look for it and verify my conclusions.
