My Day...and Night!!! Without a computer!

Ok, yesterday morning I sold my old cpu, but I couldn't get a new one till about half an hour ago, so I had to spend all of yesterday and the night as well, without a cpu in my computer! And this really opened my eyes to how much I depend on it. This is what happened.

I get home from work, and I think, "ah, I can go on the net now, I sit down, and think, oh yeah, damnit, no cpu!"
So I am sitting there, and I think, "ok, i'll watch tv, hmm, I wonder whats on, ah, ok, i'll just check the online tv guide, so I turn to my computer, and I go, ehehehe, that requires a cpu to, man i'm dumb!"

So I go to read a pc mag in another room, and after a while, I turn to the net section, and I see a cool looking site, and I think "WICKED!!!" So I jump up and race to my computer, just to realise it has no cpu in it! I mean, how dumb can ya get?!?!?!

So I finally get this into my dumb head, that I can't use my computer, but later on I need to phone a couple of places, but my phone nunbers for everyone are in a .txt file on my computer! I realise I can't use my computer as i'm walking into my room again!

I came to the conclusion that my computer owns me!

I had the same problem My dad took the computer to the repair(or unrepair as i know it)shop .It needed a new video card and i didnt have a spare one to stick in there. so My dad took the computer to the Unrepair shop and they put in a new CPU,Sound Card and even another no-Name brand CD-rom and they gave it back to my dad too take it home.
Now im Bored to death and my GF's online and i tell her: My Comp Aint Fixed yet! so my dad calls on his cell and says he's coming home with the computer!!!!!!
About 20 Mins Later he's home and i set up the computer. turn it on.

No Picture on the screen!?
so i turned the moniter off then on again
No picture.
Check connections.
still no picture.

So i call Tech support and they were closed.
So the next day i called tech support and they said i needed a new video card?!?!?!? I told them that the first time!

They say they put in a new one.
so i looked in the case.
Read the S/N on the video card
and I said it was the same as the last one.
so you put in a new video card in eh?

then the tech support guy says:
well we didnt think there was anything wrong with it.
I say dont you plug-em in and see if they work?

yes but we didnt do it on yours because we didnt have any extra moniters.

Blah blah blah

so my dad took it back and this time they put a new video card in.

a better one
v550(it was new at the time)

but i was without a comp for 2 days!

oh the horror! the Horror!

My computer's been incapacitated for months because:

1. Chaintech are stupid and can't make motherboards (and have crappy RMAness)

2. *Deleted* bast@rds that made a cheap-*** PSU

I didn't have MY OWN comp for a month. I sold mine, went to hell-hole cousins for 2 weeks, got some more money and bought one. During the latter two weeks, I had use of my dad's BUT had to share with 3 other people.

I hate sharing. 'specially when it comes to a computer.

I myself have 3 pc's and no way that anybody is touching the insides of these babies.

They can look, but they can't touch. LOL

Besides, most of my friends do have a pc of some sort for themselves, so...

What about businesses?? In many (if not most) fields, not just "office work", if the system goes down everything comes to a screeching halt!
I'm in auto parts at a dealership. W/o the comp sys, we CANNOT look up or sell anything! The shop CANNOT repair a car. The body shop can't mix paint, etc. The old manual systems no longer exist, and would be hopelessly outdated anyway!

I do that. But I don't turn it off when I'm done - 'cept when I go to bed.

Organize some files or something http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif. That's what I do. I play around with some program or uninstall progs I don't use.

Hey, I agree, the only time I turn off my computer, is when I want to fiddle with my cpu, or put something in a PCI slot, otherwise, it stays on 24/7
