Missing the point

I am not sure if this is legal for SysOpt.com, so please delete it if it is not, no harm done, no offence taken.
Now, with that out of the way, where is a good place to get a cable upload hack? I have a 128K upload cap right now, and I would really like to get rid of it, or at least make it higher....
Thanks http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/biggrin.gif

As far as I know.. there is no hack.... my upload top speed is 128kbs... and that was all that @home said was available... for now... you can make optimize your connection by going to www.speedguide.net (http://www.speedguide.net) but that is it. as far as I know that is.

The thing about Upstream and downstream is that (correct me if im wrong, im not a professional), the speeds are controlled at the central station of your phone provider. The actual ISP has nothing to do with it...they only give you access to the internet. So, if you wanted to "hack" the speeds, you would have to get someone or yourself to get into the phone companies central station and change the settings there, and even if you were able to get in there, you would have to find your configuration card i think. They are all stacked...good luck =)

Whoops! Cable might be different, I just explained for dsl. Cable would probably be at your neighborhood network box. Not too sure about this stuff...sorry again. Think same principles of finding out where your house's config is placed tho.

There was a software hack available from one of hte sysopt members and from flashwarez.com. It did not work on 90% of the modems out there and actually caused me some major problems after I tried to remove it and had to reformat. It fooled your modem with some registry settings...thats all I could see that it did.
