I bought a pack of CompUSA CDRW over a year ago and they are still working just fine.

bought a pack of 100 for about 29 bucks and havent had a problem yet.

Addition: I am only burning at 2x though, so I couldnt tell you how they perform at higher speeds.

Could that be why I cant burn at 8x? I can do 6x.

if you use them for data then it good, but music cd = lost data

What speed are they rated for? Several months back I bought a spindle of 100 CDR's off of Ebay and it turns out that they will only burn successfully at 2x. You got to be careful when it comes to cheap CDR's and CDRW's. I found that out the hard way.

I bought the CompUSA CDs a couple of weeks ago. 100 for $29. I haven't made any data CDs with them, but the music CDs would have to be considered far from successful.

It usually hangs halfway through the right. This is at 2X. I didn't have any problem with the Memorex or Fuji that I used before.

Petros, what speed were you planning on burning at?

I can only burn at 4x as I have a Yamaha 4416s. I was checking out the website where they are listed, and they are listed under the manufacturer Memtek, and after doing a search for the company, it looks to me like Memtek is somehow associated with Memorex. Maybe the cds are made for CompUSA by Memorex?

Edit: What color are the cds? Blue, gold, hot pink http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif?

....silver? They are silver on the top, and a light blueish green on the "burn" side.

I've tried 50 of them and got 40% to burn properly.
They are not worth the savngs for me.
Sony and kodak work great for my 8x burner.

IMHO they are the worst cdr's that i have tried. The have a tendancy of not burning well. Also the layer that "burns" easily flakes off.

I use them for data. If I burn music to them they play in my wifes car but not mine. So I burn her cd with them.
There is too many great deals on the shopping/deals forums to buy the compusa cds.

I have a favorite brand of CDR, Pacific Digital, never a coaster, every other brand I have tried has gotten at least a small problem even at my pathetic 2x burn, plus they are a very rich blue, which makes tham last longer.

I buy the Verbatim cd-r's and I think those are great! Never had a problem. Also with a rich blue color. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

The cheap .49 cent ones from Fry's have never failed me. Data or Music. I am using the PNY cdr's right now. They have never failed me either. Data or Music.

I usually use Verbatims too, but I was just hoping that I could find something that was a little cheaper. I can't find Verbatims for much less than $1/cd (but I admit I haven't really looked very hard either)

I also use the PNY CD-R's, they work great! Plus, you get a pretty cool PNY CD Label.

For when I'm not in a hurry to burn something, I use some non-branded CD-R's that I bought off Ebay; they will only burn at 2x. At 2x, they never miss a beat, but if you go to 4x they will **** every time.

I have about 20 out of 50 left (650 Mb) and have had only one or two not work. Have many audio and data with no problem. Also have the 700 Mb version I use when there's not enough room on the others .Imation disc wern't so friendly. Smart and Friendly CDRW's are OK though.Well satified with Comp USA product.
I ahve a Philips 4x4xc32 unit.

Hmmm, I bought the 100 pack at chump usa for $29 and have been pleased so far. I am using an imation/plextor scsi burner and all of them have burned successfully at 8X for me so far (probably about 25 burns). This includes 3 or 4 music cd's which I made and listen to in my truck on a daily basis.

I went to Best Buy and picked up a 50 pack of samsung 12x cd-r's for 9.99 after a $10 rebate. That works out to 20 cents a cd-r, I havent used Samsung cd-r's so I hope they burn well.

I have somewhat limited experience with CD burning, but I tried Imation CD's at first and they would burn but nothing would read them easily.

I prefer TDK Media as it has been the media that always works for me. Most CD-Roms read them well too. They are a pretty vibrant/rich blue on the burn side.

Well, for all my experiences with cd's, the cheap ones = **** ones, I always use Pioneer, Sony and Kodak Gold, which are all HELL fast, and have never given me a problem, the worst cd's I have ever used are Princo.

I saw that HHGregg had a 50 piece spindle of 700MB 12x PNY's for $19 so I picked them up. Sale is on all this week.
