Anyone know how to get rid of that "Start Here" arrow that shows up oddly enough at startup.

Yes, download TweakUI, install it, run it from the control panel, then turn it off. Lots of other nifty stuff in that program too.

its hidden in several directories on the Win98 cd as well...
