Well, after man years of buying things online, trading with other people, and buying from here and other forums, I got burned. I can't remember if the user I bought this from was in here or on another page (like anandtech or something), but I thought I would alert you all.
**edit** I purchased a Celeron 366 processor with a Golden Orb for $50 plus shipping from **edited name** of **edited city/state**. His email is: *edited home email*. If you know this guy, please let me know. I need to get a hold of him. I have his address, but I can't find his phone number. (Still looking into it, will call 411 if I need to).
I already sent him 5 or 6 emails stating that I will be contacting the USPS for possible mail fraud and contacting my bank to see what I can do with them (sent him a check from my online bank account--even sent him an extra $5 because I took a little longer to pay!).
Here is my question, I tried this processor in an LX board and two or three BX motherboards. It won't even post or beep or anything. I pried off the GORB only to find that the processor looks like hell. Can you tell me: is the celeron 366 PPGA supposed to have a copper top or did he lap it? I thought they were supposed to have a silver case on top of the processor, but this one is solid copper and looks like a grinder or something was used on it because the endges are worn down more than the top (rounded edges). The black part of the processor also looks worn down and I can see copper showing around those edges. So, he told me it wasn't overclocked, but this sure as hell points to some re-working of the CPU and possible OC'ing.
What do you think?
Paul
