I just have to ask you's of sysopt, who are you?
Why do you maintain/moderate such a phenomonally great forum that takes (probably) so much of your time? Where did Sysopt come from? What's in it for you moderators/other highly devoted members, etc? I have the utmost respect for and appreciation of this forum and can't help but wonder, where does the $support/dedication come from to maintain it.
Great job!

Truthfully it's the members that drives me to come back day to day. I get a "warm fuzzy feeling" when I see the happiness that comes from helping people and that just makes my days go by that much smoother. (for the most part http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/biggrin.gif)

I seeeee now. After reading the bios, and about all and Scott W., and Earthweb, it starts to adds up. A very professional and thorough site with deep resources, but with a simple/relaxed home-grown feel. Its amazing what the end result can be when people do things that they actually enjoy, instead of just for the $ (although that can be ok too). Thanks again for the great site. (This will be one of the few sites I'll actually be open to reading the ad banners to try and help support the cause. Funny how that works.)

After reading the bios, and about all and Scott W., and EarthwebHehe I read BIOS not bio's. I was like, "What? This website has a BIOS?" http://www.geocities.com/hd580/headshot.gif

Hi jjsole
Definitely a labor of love here. This is my online home, where I spend most of my time, and I can't think of a better place to be.
I've learned so much from the many great minds here, and there's something new to learn each and every day - not only about systems, but about people too. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif
As long as SysOpt will have me, I'm here to stay! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

HD581....man, you didn't know about the forum BIOS?
Its an inverse binary program, looped through a flux capacitor, and powered by a dual hampster rig! (overclocked of course)

Good to hear your comments, Mtnsnow and Socalgal. You certainly are two members in particular that I see so often and have mired in the amount of participation/commitment to the boards, thus drawn to inquire about this site. I feel fortunate I ran into this site (don't even remember how).
This is such a wealth of info for me. Not to mention that since I just posted this on this board for the first time, I've discovered this is the place for some pretty good humor (i.e. "sysopt confessions"), not to mention learning what White Trash means ("morons on the lake"). Its good to hear that its rewarding for you.
I'm now going to do a thorough search with my Copernic 4.55 to get some more info on website BIOSes. When the rubber meets the road, its really humbling to learn how little I really know about html! (copernic 'cause I don't think I'll find much about it on this site...)

Thanks, jjsole, glad you like the site. The key for me was indeed doing something I liked - the $ came much later, and I think that's probably the story behind many successful ventures.

I think there are going to be fewer situations like your's, SysOpt, because the allure of getting a piece of the new enormous tech pie$ driving businesses (as well as students).
I don't blame them, but your type of route might be more fulfilling for most to experience, though. (It's sort of like that for me atleast - I was lucky enough a couple of years ago to stumble on something I really loved and can't get enough of, as well as have made a good living at).
Thanks again for the great site!
