Morons at the Lake

A local lake north of Atlanta has an extremely high content of retards/rednecks. The winner for this weekend is the guy pulling a skiier, he looses the guy and keeps on going for a mile and a half then turning upstream, never coming back that I saw. Another moron, pulling a 13 yr old girl on a tube, past the "no skiing" bouy, no life jacket and in 2-3' swells with her neck snapping 75 degrees to the back. Three rednecks on a Bass Buggy pontoon racing outta a no wake zone to try to run over some Canadian geese. A jet-skiier cutting between a skiier and the boat. A boat entering a swimming area. A 60' cigarette racing boat, 1000 hp motors, doing 100+ in super congested area. A rickshaw about to submerge due to rough seas, carring three babies with no life jackets on. A rental pontoon with four 12 year old girls riding on the front of the boat, just dying to fall under and get to meet the propeller. A campsite left by idiots with three oil jugs on the beack, many broken beer bottles, several diapers, deflated floats, shoes, rotting food and feces complete with toilet paper. All this on the beach where presumably these rednecks will return to.. I pity the DNR and US Army Corps of Engrs Rangers, having to put up with so much dumazzness , I'm late to bed, so I gotta quit. ****! they must be spreadin!..Sounds kinda like an encounter I had here in texas. I was pulling a guy and his wife back to the dock after she ran over the ski rope and we didn't have any way to get cut away from the prop. About a half mile from the marina, some punk *deleted* on a jet ski stars playing chicken with me by running straight at the bow of my boat.
First stupid move, my boat is 23 ft long/3400 lbs, vs jet ski@300 lbs. Duh, have you ever heard of kenetic energy???

I start to slow down and he keeps coming, then proceeds to fall off while his ski keeps coming because the idiot disabled the kill switch.
I yelled to him and his buddy that if his ski hits my boat, I was going to tie onto it, drag it to the middle of the lake and sink the sucker.. second thought was to put it onto the end of a rope and sling it onto the rocks of the dam. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif
His buddy saved his ski by coming along side on his and steering it away from my boat and the one I was pulling. MORON!
Why do some people dis-engage their brain when they get on the water? The same rules of right of way and common courtesy/sense also apply while driving a watercraft, especially since they don't have brakes.
The Texas parks and wildlife game wardens are really out in force on the weekends this year, checking everyones saftey equipment/registration, etc to try and stop some of this nonsense,I for one am glad to see them out, because it has cut down on alot of the drunks driving boats. Whats cool is that if you get a B.W.I (boating while intoxicated), it carries the same weight as a D.W.I in a car.
I'm not totally against beer when cruising,just against gettin' hammered and then trying to navigate on the water.

Grunt that comment was not called for! You can not judge a person because of where they live or even how they dress! And no I do not live in a mobile home but I may soon if I decide to buy the 20 acres I am looking at. Until I build a house anyway.

HEY! THIS IS MY THREAD!! How did it turn into a item of class? The DA's at the lake vary in income level from 10g per year to a mil or so. You can be sure that the twin engine 502hp chevy BB engined boat cost over a quarter mil and this didn't stop him from trying to kill someone. In fact most people that I refer the law to come off worse if they got mega coin. Only 20% or so will thank you if you save them a few hundred bucks. The fine here can range from $130.00 for breaking the most simple law to $5000.00 for life endangerment. I spend many hours filming dangerous acts and educating people in the safe boating laws and courteous behavior. The need for armament is a definite when doing this kind of public service, matter of fact I've had to switch ramps to the police launch to avoid damage to my vehicle from a near altercation a week ago. Some 'necks from Auburn threatened me for asking them to be ready to launch when they drove around me and a lady from Cuba and when they got to the water THEN they got the boat ready and farted around talking and taking their time after breaking in line. I simply asked them that next time to have the boat ready to launch, I didn't gripe about them breaking in line.. They threatened and I DID get it all on camcorder, tag no. and all.. I hate rude people, well, dislike intensely anyway.. DrVette

Doc had you seen the original post by grunt you may understand my post. Also Brandon asked what "white trash" was do I found a link that explained it well I hope.

I will say that I have no respect for anyone that who puts down someone for where they live. Seems strange considering 70% of America lives paycheck to paycheck. Just think about it a major accident and most people could be on the streets or in a shelter in a matter of months because they have virtually no savings to fall back on.

As for the dumb@zz idiots on the lake... well, may their passage to the ranks of the Darwin Awards be swift! It's a shame when people act like this - sure, we all want to let our hair down and have some fun with our 'toys', but unfortunatley a few ignorant &^$*^%$*%$*$ do not care if they spoil the fun for the majority, or leave the place in a worse state than they found it.

The water can be an enjoyable place - I prefer to take it at a slower pace than twin 500hp V8's (but that's got to be fun!). 4mph chugging along the canals, planning your journey by pub opening times - no better way to relax, IMO!

The trouble with narrowboats is that they are (usually) flat bottomed, weigh up to 20 tons (44,000lb), have a very shallow draught and are single screw. This makes them almost impossible to steer in a straight line....sober. That's unfortunate http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif
