I just noticed a story that Earthlink has refused to install the FBI's email sniffing box "carnivore". Kind of refreshing to see an isp say no to the **** the FBI seems to be shoveling lately. http://news.cnet.com/news/0-1005-200-2257522.html?tag=st.ne.ron.lthd.ni

Yes, kudos to Earthlink. Now at least there is a good chance that the surveillance, if any, will be in response to a court order and NOT just "sniffing" around.
In light of recent news of clandestine FBI surveillance of Cardinal O'Conner, among others, for Pro-Life views, you want at least one or two "checks" standing between you and crime-fighting zeal.
I have nothing against law-enforcement agencies at all, but I DO believe people should be, oh, what are the words: "secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures..."
Oh, yes, I borrowed those words. Article the Sixth, Bill of Rights, U.S. Constitution, March 4, 1789.
Wonder if folks in Washington D.C. ever have to read this in between "carnivore" programming classes?
