It seems to be working out very well, and it has seemed to put a halt to alot of confusion in the other sections of the BBS here...........
Also I would like to note that alot of the topics in the new forum are not silly, and seem to be helpful,if not enlightening in alot of cases...............
I say thanks, and it was needed.

I like it... http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
I like to get to know the people who I communicate to on a forum, on different levels. I would hate to just know someone for their knowledge of the IT industry. I, for one, am interested in, and am interested in hearing the opinions and ideas of other forum members.
Doing just that, allows me to get to know and be friends of some of my fellow users.
I have also noticed the numerous posts in the new forum, which have been intelligent, and mature posts, with intelligent and mature replies.. for the most part. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif
I didn't really like the idea of a new forum at the time, but it has really grown on me.. Since at the time, I thought that there would just be a pile of junk here for posts, and I guess I'm wrong!

hmmmm, I don't know. I'm still unsure if it was a good idea or not. It seemed like a good idea. But I think I'm finding out more information about these guys than I ever wanted to know. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif Ain't all that bad though. I'm seeing I have a lot in common with many people, and NOTHING in common with a few. But I guess such is life.

I think as a whole it's working out pretty well; so far so good - as Scott said! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif
i like it too, but people have to learn to put tech support stuff at technical support as some people still tend to put their technical problems in the general discussion section.

it seems to be working out pretty good.it gives people a place to clowning around, kind of take a break you know.for times when you are pulling your hair out over a computer problem.it is a nice addition to the forum.

Originally I had voted against it....I thought it would become a free for all. But I stand corrected. It's a great idea, and adding another moderator was a nice touch too. For the most part, the whole forum is better off for it.

I think nowadays we don't have the personal interaction we used to have, town meetings and just the bunch at the local "greasy spoon" we tend to think our opinion is the only one, this forum gives us an insight to what others feel. believe. and food for thought. as long as we dont say anything to another that we wouldn't say face to face. all will be well, so far I like it. IMHO.

I'm liking it very much!!!
There is almost no weird posts, which normally would be closed, but they stay away.
It was a good idea to start such a forum.
Keep up the good work Scott, Socalgal and ofcourse since a short while, Mntsnow.
And let us not forget Joel.

Well Win_98 this is not a vote. It's whether you are happy with the new forum or not.

I give it a thumbs up. The only problem I see is there is a blurry line between General Tech Discussion and Technical Support. Anyone else see this?

I agree with mrgordons comment but I think on the whole the whole idea has worked very well and thanks to all the hard working staff it has kept Sysopt at the top where it belongs and still moving forward positively. The most positive thing I feel is that it shows that Sysopt has the members interests at heart and it really is a community http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif.

Wait!
Scott, you're not holding up your end of the bargain! What about the elimination of post counting in this section? I don't really think it is as necessary as we all thought because there haven't been any problems to this date, but I wouldn't mind seeing it implemented if possible.

the post count issue only bothers the few of you who still seem to think that it is actually important

Bargain? Hmm.. I said I would do it, but I don't recall it being "my end of the bargain". Unfortunately it's not as simple as hitting a button in a config panel. It requires a CGI coding change, and I haven't had time to do it. I'll do it when I can.

not only should posts not count but any thread moved to here should be deleated except for the header and moved to with post counts subtracted. after a short time I think it would make the admin job a little easier. they wouldn't have to move so many or close the inane threads. I think you can readily see the ones I mean. barry

I'm new
I've been wrong before but it seems to me that people who frequent these kinds of message boards are
looking to learn something,
looking to help someone,
looking to resolve a problem
this fits that bill for me and is much better than TV these days

Chip, I thought I was the only one that heard those voices! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
I believe this new OT forum has benefited the board in several ways. Now the OT posts are seperate from people actually needing help, plus the extra interaction here in the community section allows us to know each other that much more. Assuming everything continues as it is, SysOpt.community should definitely be a permanent addition to the Sysopt.com domain.
