I also had an exciting fourth of July. I was down in my basement of my parents home (where I stay for the summer) at sysopt, whe the doorbell rang (at 130 AM)... it was my neighbor and he came over to get someone because two crazy *** kids had come flying around the corner and crashed through a fence into my backyard!!

It was one of the weirdest thigs I've ever seen. The girl who was driving was 15, and the kid who owned the car was stoned... She came flying around the corner upwards of 40mph missed one of our volvo's parked across the street by two feet and overcorrected. As she careened (sp?) across the street, she missed our other parked volvo by less than 2in.(no kidding!!) and proceeded to crash through our fence (built 2 weeks ago) missing a large tree trunk by a yard... she then bashed through a whiskey barrel full of rocks that slowed her down enough so that when she hit another part of our fence she didn't keep going... the car had gotten hung up on a 2 ft. retaining wall and stopped a few feet short of a 3 story pine tree...

she also ripped up 2 of our very old lilac plant-like thingies (i don't know what they are really)...

as if that's not screwed up enough... my neighbor, who's room is right above where this happend in our backyard heard them put the car in reverse and try and get out of there... good thing the axle was bent around the retaining wall.

that pisses me off and then to make things worse, then the cops show up and didn't even give the kids alcohol tests or any sort of thing like that.. then the **** tow truck guy f$cks up our even more of our yard as he drags the car out in the dark at 245 AM...

My poor mom had spent a good portion of last summer making the retaining wall and landscaping the whole area and it was just beautiful...

jeez, what the hell is this ****??...
Sometimes it seems like my family has some pretty bad luck...

oh well, looks like insurance is gonna pay for everything...
btw, the girl.. lives across the street and down a house... she never even came over (or her mother) to apoligize and help clean up our tattered yard... what a b$tch!

EDIT- 1. I can't spell
2. The kids narrowly escaped serious injury about 4 times and the only injury was a few stitches in the boy's foot...

Sounds like they had a fun ride.

I hope they got some tickets.

I would be knocking on her door and telling here parents to pay for the repairs. If they refuse to pay then we would just have to go to court.

Oh also make sure to take a bunch of pics showing all the damage.

The simple fact of her not coming over to apologize or apologize at all would have me talking to my lawyer. Insurance or no Insurance. I would maybe understand a little and have a tiny bit of compassion if that happened to me and got a sincere apology, like she really didn't mean to do it.

Some people these days...

I did take as many photos as possible, but it was pitch dark, and they wouldn't wait until the morning to remove the car. I pretty much just aimed it where i thought would be a good picture and snapped it

Unfortunately there is history in the neighborhood with this family... and it is not positive, they've always been quite distant and few other neighbors like them...

in addition, the girl driving the car was burned over her entire body as a younger child, and is sadly frightening to look at... things like that make you wonder how many times she can cheat death and it also makes you much more tolerant...

all the same, it's still sh$tty!

LOL, that's messed up on how the cops took no test whatsoever. They SHOULD give tests to that person, specially if she looked stoned. Oh well, good luck, you'll really need it.

You know what would be really cool? Some sort of statute that says once the perp of something like this is found at fault, you get to keep their property until yours is back in original condition.

"Oh, I'm sorry I wrecked your car,(mom, dad, boy/girlfreind buddy, etc)". Try telling them they won't get the car back until they cough up the jack to fix your stuff,THEN and only then could they get their own car repaired.

do the cops have a review board. It sounds like these cops were negligent in not ttesting the driver and passenger. you should definately complain.

hehe...you just had to bring this topic up didnt you...
well here is my story...
about a 1 1/2 months ago some kids in a truck that the driver stole from his brother ended up in my FRONT yard and my poor truck was nowhere in sight. the kids were all underage and apparently drunk. they all ran from the scene. the parents and brother called the cops (luckily) and came back over here. you see if i wasnt asleep thinkin it was a dream at first, i woulda been out front with a steel bat. well anyways the red and blue lights from the 'ol 5.0 come flashin up to my house ( and im like oh **** i know they didnt.) so i look outside and see the truck up in my front yard and my truck was in front of the neighbors house. he hit it on the right rear side so that the whole fender was bent up to the door (it WAS a unibody pickup), bent in the tailgate, and i noticed some dents in the driverside. probably ended up tweakin the frame. i think i forgot to mention that he hit the neighbors car too. well anyway me and a friend drove by the kids house the other day and saw a truck that looked strangely familiar...i was sayin i know that aint his truck, next time he aint gonna get it back. well the insurance crapped on fixin mine b/c it is an older car ('77 Ford Ranchero GT)**** that car (or truck) was sweet. if my dad wasnt the one talkin to there insurance, i woulda been, and i woulda made them find a new bed and sheet metal and replace the whole backend and fix the chassis if it were tweaked. oh yeah...it happened at 1:15 in the mornin. i found out the next day in history that the kid that sat next to me was in teh car. well im done(and pi$$ed all over again)
later guys
chris

BTW: the driver WILL have SKYROCKETED insurance for the REST OF HIS LIFE!

my not take them to small claims court for negligence? I'm almost postivie the kid had no license, and while this will not bring everyhting back, it sure makes it a little easier.

I, personally, am one for revenge in the highest order. muahaha. thats pretty evil
