I use O&O Defragger for Win2k. No where near as good as Norton Speedisk for Win9x, but much better than the default defragger that comes with Win2k. It is a commercial product, but the company also puts out a functional freeware version minus all the bells and whistles (that you'd probably never use). Can't think of the URL off the top of my head, but I know theres a link to it over in Win2k section of my links page (http://home.earthlink.net/~chinmonster/links/index_links.htm).

As for a memory management utility, I use Memturbo if I am on a system with 128 or less in RAM and freemem onmy home system that has more than that. I have not tried them in 2000 yet. They are freely DLable from www.download.com (http://www.download.com) In regards to memturbo, this is the only "true" defragger I have seen. the rest reclaim RAM in different ways (releasing resources from unused dlls and such). Memturbo only lists 95 and NT as supported OSes but it does work in 98 and may work in 2000. It couldn't hurt to try it. I will try it on mine when I get it back up and running (had a power spike from a dead cd-rom).
Good luck

Thanks for that. The program does run under Windows 2000 but I am not sure on how useful it realy is in 2000 though. Windows seems to free up memory when needed all by itself anyway. I will have to keep windows going for as long as I can realy test it out.
