I'm hurting here... I did the first half just fine, but can't figure out how to send out any emails now. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/frown.gif

Anyone have a fix for sending out emails if all the files have been deleted?

Oh great!... I heard about this from a co-worker, and wanted to get it taken care of as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, they mixed up the erradication sequence.

I mistakenly deleted everyone I knew from my hard-disk, and sent out all my files http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/frown.gif

What do I do now? LOL

OK, let me get this straight.....

Your files are missing and your address book is too.....

This virus is a real nasty one, I got reinfected every time I checked my mailbox for a CERT advisory telling me what to do. Fortunately I remembered to perform a full backup before the infection spread too deeply.

If you failed to take this preventative step, why not try the following:

1. Why not trying to copy your harddrive to another drive using the xcopy32 command. This way you will be able to preserve the long file names on your system...and should prevent you from being reinfected unless you decide reading e-mail is important.

2. If this fails, why not flash your BIOS chip, this always seems to do the trick. I read about this in the CIH manual......According to the CIH manual it really doesn't matter which flash you use. Personally I like to use Toshiba BIOS upgrades on Dell machines.....

3. Try running HAPPY99.EXE, I have been told that this will help minimize the impact of the damage to your winsock file when you get around to deleting it.

4. Remember to look for W97M/EthanA. Ethan is a strong protective program which will help protect all your MS Word document templates.

5. Don't get confused, "ElfBowling.exe" will not offer you any help in defending yourself from this nasty nasty evil, cruel, dispicable, ugly virus threat.

*WINK*
