Guys,
I really need some help on this one.
I installed ME on my friends PC last night, but he only has a "generic" 33.6 modem, the problem occurs when ME is fully started.......
When you ring his phone number, the PC answers after 2 rings http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/frown.gif I have unloaded the modem driver, removed all "communications" bits from the add/remove Control Panel selection, have searched the registry for "fax", "auto" and "answer", and found no keys that look like they would affect it.
If you start the PC and go into the start menu, ie hold CTRL at boot up, and it displays the option to go into safe mode, it doesn't answer. It also didn't answer after we had used the modem to connect to the web, but after restarting again, it did answer the phone.
I just don't know what else to try, I spent bloody 4 hrs doing it last night, when the install on my machine took less than a normal 98 installation.
Please, please help me out for the sake of my sanity.
