Help, I cannot enter the BIOS of this POS Compac 5738. It is a 550 with a GTS-2 Vid card, and horrible performance. No better than the 8MB card that it replaced. Upon inspection, i find that for some reason, the system is not recognizing the Vid card as having hardware acceleration. I am hoping that this solution is in the BIOS.
Please help if you know.

Normally with a Compaq you enter the Bios area by pressing f10 while the curser is blinking in the upper right had corner. However with a Compaq there is little control offered the operator there.

On a 94 model Compulock with the evil OS Win95, the del key is what it took to get into its bios.. it had an AWARD BIOS, DrVette

On my brother's 5451, I use CTL-ALT-ESC to enter the BIOS.

Press F2 during boot = (NEC).
Press F10 when square in top RH corner of screen= (Compaq).
Press Ins during boot=IBM PS/2 with reference partition.
Shift Ctrl Alt + Num Pad del= - Olivetti PC Pro.
Ctrl Alt ? =some PS/2s, such as 75 and 90.
Ctrl-Esc = Misc Puters
Ctrl Ins= some PS/2s when pointer at top right of screen.
Press reset twice= some Dells.
Ctrl Alt Enter= Dell.
Ctrl Alt Esc=AST Advantage, Award, Tandon.
Ctrl Alt + =Misc Puters
Ctrl Alt S= Phoenix.
Ctrl Alt Ins= (Zenith, Phoenix)
Ctrl S =(Phoenix).
Thanks,
I will try each and every one until i give up. I am already suggesting that he buy a new Mobo- like and Abit with softmenu as i am sure that they have enable IRQ for VGA, which may not even exist on the Compac, which in turn might very likely be the problem.
Thanks again all who responded. I will succeed, even if it costs me!!

New Abit mobo? In a Compaq? Get ready to buy a new case as well.
