Win 98 se update

Ive never had a problem using this service with any of the puters I have built before....but....I just built a new puter...an amd k6-2 550 0c to 577...256 mb ram on an asus p5a board....im having trouble with windows 98 update, and any other program that I download and "run from current location"....im wondering if it's the aladdin chipset on the mobo....anyone have the same issue? (i can download things and save them to disk...then they work fine)

Tell us more about your problem. Like, what kind of problem are you having? And, Do you have this problem with the CPU at 550?

I think i will try back at the normal clock for a while...

nope...even at normal clock windows update wont work....everything els does though.....no other problems with download and install....just windows. IF I go to windows update...it check out my machine...takes me to the wb page...I select a couple things(doesnt matter what they are) and I download...when it starts to install I either get an error, or the whole thing just dissapears, POOF!
