I Wanted to try voice chatting today.... which wasn't much fun, 'coz there were no voice...

I could hear them, but htey coudn't hear me - my mike works, isn't muted... and i can hear myselv in the speakers - but they only hear a 'click' and that is the only thing i can get roger wilco to record from me...

What is the matter...

What kind of sound card are you using? Also try downloading AOL Instant Messanger (AIM) and see if their voice chat works on your comp. I've worked on a couple of computers that Roger Wilco wouldn't work on but tried AIM and it ran fine. Another thought-- make sure that the full duplex setting in Roger Wilco is enabled.

Wouldn`t that last post only apply if you have a full duplex sound card? http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

Depends on the sound card, and anything built over that last couple years is certainly full duplex!

Ya never know though!

maybe you oughta check the programs options...you may have the wrong input device selected...

Have you tried another microphone? I think i had the same problem once, where i could hear myself in the speakers but when it came to netmeeting or Roger Wilco it wouldnt work, and i found out that it was my microphone that was broken and not a bad setting.

Hope that helps.

Be sure to bind a key and use "Push-to-talk" mode and not VOX.

Maybe try tuning your system up with Yahoo voicechat, they have a great test function built in that should help you find your problem... http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

Try this out. Double click volume icon. Go to options->properties. A window will open. You will see a spot for "adjust volume for" and it will be "playback" or "recording" Select "recording" and make sure the volume for mic is all the way up and is unmuted. Adjusting the mic volume while under "playback" only affects how loud the mic outputs through your own speakers. If you turn both "playback" and "recording" all the way up you will get feedback.
