Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : Can a hard drive out of a Mac be formatted and used in an IBM? JeffD78 08-02-2000, 10:47 AM See subject title. qball 08-02-2000, 11:32 AM What's a Mac? Actually the interface Mac uses for it's devices is (drum roll please........). SCSI! You need a compatible SCSI controller for the SCSI version of the drive (SCSI, SCSI2...). Other than that you should be able to format (low level should not be necessary) and rock and roll. If you wanted to acces any files, you need the Mac, iffin you just want the drive, format and go. daveleau 08-03-2000, 12:20 AM Newer Macs do use IDE and yes they both can be formatted to be used with a PC. low level is not needed.
