If you had a CD-RW drive available in both EIDE and SCSI with the same read/write/rewrite numbers, how much of a speed advantage would you get using the SCSI over the EIDE when writing files to a CD-R? Or when copying CDs?

i would get scsi

its less CPU dependant and that means less coasters

also in the longrun scsi a scsi burner will last longer

most scsi devices are built with higher quality then IDE conterparts

i dunno about speed, but i got my scsi cdr abot 2 years ago. at the time i was told that scsi was better for cd-cd audio burning as i mainly like to make mixes of my cds. i know with my setup i can burn cds and worry about using my hd via browsing the web or whatever.

AROCK!!!

I have 2 computers 1 has an IDE cdr\rw the other is scsi I like the scsi better it seems to do a better more reliable job.

SCSI, especially if you have an IDE HD or CD.

SCSI is more expensive to set up, but I prefer driving Ferrari's instead of Hyundai's.

SCSI is far superior in performance and expansion. Adding extra devices is actually plug and play.

uhh.....get EIDE....

just kidding http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif Scsi allows more flexibility so your computer wont become usless while making a cd.

The answer to your question is none. By far the slowest link in the chain is the cd r/w mechanism itself. Any ide drive will outpace a CDR during the write process so you wont see any speed advantage with scsi when you are writing cd's.
However, adding a scsi drive to your system will offload the processor during write activity and it will write more reliably so I would recommend scsi.
