Just upgraded to ie 5.5 Sometimes, but not always when changing pages, it pops up a message "Failed to get DOM". All it has is an OK button and pressing it IE continues on with no apparent effect.

Any of you seen this or know what it means.

Sorry to rain on your parade, but IE5.5 is ****. Have a look at the posts in Apps & Operating systems. I installed 5.5 on my win2K box & had nothing but trouble with it. Rolled back to IE5.01.

I couldn't agree more! IE 5.5 is not an upgrade, it seems to be DOWNGRADE! Very Shi**y performance!

I heard the same stuff when I went from IE 4.01 to 5.0. Some is true, some not. See this post, grab the DCOM98 download from MS and see if that helps..=>>> http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/Forum1/HTML/007810.html DrVette

Strange. I had nothing but hassles with IE 5.01. I've had no issues at all with 5.5. Seems to work fine, at least on NT 4.0 and W2k.

Me too.....5.1 locked up on me often, but 5.5 has been ok. The only problem I had was when I installed Media Player 7. I'd get occasional lockups in 5.5 after that. I switched back to letting Windows handle the swap file, and it's been ok since.

Media PLayer 7 was in beta then, the final is out now, and hopefully, fixed a lot of issues.

I don`t usually find many bugs in beta software, but that **** Media Player 7 was the icing on the cake!

Worst bug I found was that if MP7 was open, I couldn`t open IE until I closed MP7!

Sounds ok I know, but what happens when you try and listen/view a format from within IE? Well, it tried to open MP7, and locked up! **** MS **** again!

Hey, go to the add/remove programs box in control panel and click "remove" on IE, then you'll get a option to "Repair" , at least it works something like that on IE 5.01 . DrVette

I guess MP7 has still got some bugs then (imagine that!), because I did install the final version. That "repair" option is still available with IE 5.5, but what exactly does it do?? Have to admit to be being a bit gunshy at this point; IE5.5/MP7 is working great with the swap file set dynamic.
