Hard Drive Designation

I've just installed a second hard drive in my system. The second drive is out of an older PC. My BIOS detects the 2nd drive. Win 98 also detects the drive, but Win 98 will not allow me to give it a drive designation unless i specify it as a removable drive. My system is as follows:
TXProII MB, 32Mb EDO Ram, Cyrix MII 300 processor, Win 98, Maxtor 1 Gigabyte hard drive (works), Maxtor Model 7850 AV 850 Mb hard drive (cannot get to work).

Any help will be appreciated.

Never mind. Realized the drive needed to be re partitioned. It was originally installed when BIOS's couldn't read drives that large, and thus had some wierd MaxBlast disk handling software on it.
