why is it that every one thinks that there machine is the best. Its as if people build up an afinity with there computer. I mean you start with a small starter system, then after a few years you upgrade your cpu, then maybe you splash out on some memory, and then an agp card, and some where along the way you pay heaps for a new component and then jump online to check out what every one else has and find youve bought an out dated component,( i mean buy this that the masses are talking about the next model up), Next you learn a bit about over clocking and chat about it online and even go to great lengths (many hrs of interested reading online) to care for your over clocked system and at the same time crank out the last mghz you can without blowing your hampsters rectal passage to pieces. And one might say one even cares for this hampster.Next comes the modifications, and lets face it weve all had a go to some degree or another, some go and buy a fan and plug that into there M/Board and are quit content in that theve some how suped up there system, some even buy 2 or even three and iv even seen 6 fans + numerous agp and mboard clip ons atached to there systems, ahh and then comes the heat sinks, lets not forget the many topics regarding the attachment of heat sinks to your system memory and iv even read the posts on attaching heat sinks to your agp cards sdram. And to this i say That long gone are the days of men in love with there cars, the love of electronics has been born.
ode to the clocker.

Ohh Mong_2,
it's just human nature kicking in there ya know.
Mine bigger then yours, no way mine better.
And if it isn't, it will be soon.
I gotta admit, I would love to have such a top of the notch pc, but I can't afford it so I won't buy it.
I sometimes tell what I've achieved with this baby, but it stays there, you'll never hear me saying mine's better, simplhy because of the fact that in most cases it just isn't. LOL

I think it would be a big improvement when everybody would say to themselves that the pc that they have got is all they can affort and they had better settle with it.
Be pleased with what you got, not be angry with what ya don't got.
Be glad ya even have a pc. there are lots of people in the world that need a pc but have to save 3 months wages to be able to buy one.
You all don't realize how lucky you all are.
Think about that.

The PC replaced the combustion engine hotrod. "Vroom! Vroom!" I think that fairly sums it up. Oh yeah, and mine has an
8-track stereo with 4 Jensens!

I have to agree with the above. The insurance companies the EPA and much stricter traffic laws have killed the hotrod. The computer is the new hotrod. I can still remember my father obsessively polishing the heads on a Pontiac 455 trying to get the absolute last horse power out of the motor. Sound familiar? I get nearly the same enjoyment out of rebuilding engines as building a new computer. I think it must use the same part of the brain.
Well, mong_2, I'm happy to say I don't own any hamsters..... won't be injuring any passages any time soon - ROFL.....
Otherwise, I enjoy a job where they let me play with the really big PC's, quad Xeons and everything, so in my personal life, what was current 6 months is GREAT! for me - but I have to admit - adding the new fan does add a little fun to the odd Saturday - My full tower PC at the house is almost more noisy fan-wise than my central AC unit....
And there are still a lot of mechanics out there - they just don't make as much money as I do unless they own the shop....
I'll probably buy a case some time soon and do some mods like Drizzle posted a few weeks back with some plexiglass and a few extra fans. Won't have a board or processor for it for a while, but that doesn't matter....
