Someone has posted a fraudulent Heatware evaluation on me.
Trust that this will be investigated and I have already contacted Heat, among others.

Socal,
This is disgusting. I'd say more, but I think that pretty much sums up my feeling on the matter.
On the other hand, if anyone would like to ship ME some free hardware, just let me know. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

Sorry socalgal. I hope you get it straightened out. And yet another reason we need a more secure ratings page. Anyone who knows my email address could use my heatware to post whatever they want. This could get out of hand.

Heat has removed the fake evaluation.
Thanks, Heat. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

I just got this via email:
Greetings.
Moments ago, Heatware decided to terminate your relationship via the
Zooass Relationship Terminator. The following slam was selected just for
you:
"Hi Dave,
Will add 10 fake evaluations on you. :-) That would be fun. Won't
it? <LOL> Small man with a big mouth. Let's say how smart you are now,
dork. <LOL> "
Have a nice day.

Watch out. Victor Chan is on the loose. This guy is a total loser and has nothing better to do than to mess with us. Be careful.

Well someone could do a lookup under his domain and find his home address and phone number...
Not that I am advocating that or anything http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

Dave,
I'll send along a notice to Heat to warn him of any possible trouble and so he can keep an eye out. You might also want to send Heat an email, as well.
Sorry to see that, Dave. You certainly don't deserve that.

It seems that's just some joke site, where you can email "jokes" to someone or yourself. Whoever sent the email sent it from that site. Not a very good joke, at that.
Thanks, Vagabond.

It does kind of sound like it could be victorchan. He did not like it when his fake evals were discovered and got himself banned. Some people are just jerks.

I just emailed Heat Socal. Thanks. I knew that eval had to be fake under your name. I mentioned it in a round-about way in a nother thread. I am glad it is straight. What a jerk this guy is.
Thanks
Dave
I dont trust heatware. no credibility. any body can post anything. I'd rathe ask people for their ebay rating or something of that sort

Socalgal is a 'Lady"?
'Scuse me I'd rather keep her in the 19-25 catagory of 'girl' http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

"I dont trust heatware. no credibility. any body can post anything."
Well if you're going to take HeatWare at face value, then yes, it could be lacking in accuracy.
What you need to do is follow up on those evals, and take a little time to verify them.
HeatWare wasn't intended to be used, as an absolute testimony of a traders integrity. It's a reference guide, nothing more. Like any research tool, it will give you an idea of which direction to go, to find the information you need.
Another thing that people should do is check their own accounts. By that I mean, do a search for your username. The search results will show you not only your evals, it will also show the evals left by you. You can make sure that no one has falsely used your name to pad their account.
It will also show, if you haven't been keeping up your end of leaving evals. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif
Remember heat23 is one person, and there are over 4000 accounts on the HeatWare sight. There are approximately 1000 new evals posted every week from more than 10 boards. With those kinds of numbers to deal with, he's done a heck of job keeping that board as credible as possible.
But a little help from us, certainly wouldn't hurt. I think any help that we can give him, would be appreciated. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif
Nice thing about HeatWare, is that I can contact the people on the list directly. Try to do that with Ebay. And I would be willing to bet, that faking feedback there, isn't as hard as you might think. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

Like TonyH said, ask around send a few emails to folks that your potential tradee has traded with. In the old days (before heatware) we posted reference posts to the forum, which are still acceptable in most places.
