I use MSIE 5.0 128bit version. It's usually very reliable, as it rarely locks up. Usually it just stops responding on "loaded" web sites, and I can just close it, and re-open it.
"Bleeding" or "leaking" by my definition refers to when the above doesn't happen, but rather, the browsers words or pictures do something weird where everything goes blank or a certain color. Basically, the only thing you can do is to shut down and reboot. Does this happen to you? What causes this?

Well, my browser used to do the "Bleed" as you describe it, Didn't think much of it (Not horrible, maybe your situation is). Eventually upgraded my comp and got a new video card (originally a pci ATI card, now a TNT2). Now my problem with IE5.5 is every once in a while, it will not load any pages, no clicks work, no form submissions. Close it and re open to the same page it works fine. Go figure.

I have had the bleed thing a few times too, but the last 3 months IE has been extremely stable on my pc, never crashed once.
Maybe it's maturing with time elapsed after installation. LOL

Something I found when IE crashes - closing it doesn't really close it. I got a program called Resource Manager (Resman) from www.entechtaiwan.com (http://www.entechtaiwan.com) . After IE crashes, Resman says that Iexplore.exe is still active - that causes it to crash easily even after re-opening it. However, Resman has a good Terminate feature - if IE crashes, or nearly any other app crashes - I use Resman to terminate it completely.

Sounds like maybe a video problem. Might try lowering your color resolution and/or setting your Graphics accelerator down one or two notches, and also try disabling smooth scrolling.

Well, this problem usually only occurs if MSIE has been working properly (1-2 days straight w/ no crashing), then the leaking happens.
Other than that, I have a 14" monitor, and set to 640 x 480, 32-bit true color (ooh, love those pretty colors). Do you think dropping down the colors, say 24-bit true color, would make the problem occur less?

Definitely. Just to experiment, set it back to 256 color & notice how much faster your GUI interface is. Of course, if you have a 1 GHz CPU, you might not notice.
