Win98 Install Proglems

I have had my new system since jan this year and it has had win98 on it all the time. I have formatted it loads of time and reinstalled win98, with no problems. But i formatted it 4 days ago and since then nothing in windows, explorer 5 or office 2000 has worked since. I have formated it everyday since and reinstalled because problems keep arising, i'm really getting sick of it. Has anyone got any advice why this is happening?? Please help
I have an AMD k6/2 450, V3 3000agp, 64mb SDRAM, 44x UDMA33 CD-ROM, 2.6Gb fujitsu hd, 1.1gb seagate hd, 56k Zoltrix Phanton Modem and a jetway J-542b mobo.

Can you be a little more specific? Does the computer explode? That would be a problem. Does it give you an error message? Do something funny? Please reply back with that info. Do you have an estra stick of memory you can try to replace the old one with?

After the installation of all the above software, its fine until about an hour or so. Then icons start to change into black squares, explorer continually crashes somtimes with error messages, things are starting to slow down in general (games aplications etc). I have 32mb edo in simms i could try. So is there enough info here?? let me know if you have any suggestions for a cure.

well...i know the cure for the darkened icons...right click on your desktop and select properties, then go to appearance...you will see that there are three fields; scheme, item, and font...change the ITEM field from "desktop" to "icons"....see how the icon size is 32? try changing it to 30 (or any other number)......SHAZAM! (its a voodoo thang)
