Napster went to court today and got a stay which means that don't have to shut down at midnight. I don't know how long the stay is for, I hope it is til the end of the trial which could take a year.

I don't know how long the stay is for, I hope it is til the end of the trial which could take a year. Ultima 07-28-2000, 05:25 PM Well, I think napster had a record number of people online at once. 8000 members were online at the same time, I sure had trouble logging in, I can tell ya that. Pim chipbgt 07-28-2000, 05:32 PM What is this "Napster" that you speak of? Ultima 07-28-2000, 05:42 PM You don't know Napster??? Man, where have you been the last year??? Napster is a world wide shared mp3 community. Ya can download it at www.napster.com (http://www.napster.com) You should try it, it has a library of about 4500Gb's of mp3's. Pim chipbgt 07-28-2000, 05:45 PM ......sigh http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif It was sarcasm, aimed at the fact that there are about 8 active threads on napster right now. Ultima 07-28-2000, 05:52 PM DOHH http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif Í gotta slap myself in the face I guess, have to stay awake. It's 3am over here, so.... I got a vodka redbull in my left hand and a cigarette in the other. But I'm not goin to bed yet. Pim [This message has been edited by Ultima (edited 07-28-2000).] chipbgt 07-28-2000, 06:04 PM then I wont hold you responsibly for my subtlety, this time http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif SysOpt 07-28-2000, 06:41 PM I wrote this week's SysOpt newsletter forward about the Napster issue. Glad they got a stay. Still, Scour Exchange (http://www.scour.com/Software/Scour_Exchange/) is about 50 times better than Napster... Scott Ultima 07-28-2000, 06:42 PM Ohh, I'm everly so greatfull, thanks so much. ROFLHHO Pim chipbgt 07-28-2000, 06:45 PM ...Shouldn't you be sleeping? http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif Ultima 07-28-2000, 06:53 PM For who??? Me??? Naahhh, it is officially almost time to get up again. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif It is now 4am, I ain't even sleepy anymore, I can tell ya that. Pim [This message has been edited by Ultima (edited 07-28-2000).] [This message has been edited by Ultima (edited 07-28-2000).] shadow 07-28-2000, 09:45 PM Great. Now one of the 8,330 napster members online can take a break knowing it may be around tomorrow. SysOpt 07-28-2000, 10:42 PM Only 8,000 on Napster at a time typically? I haven't used it much.. I really don't mean to be a Scour advocate but just FYI there are currently 49,000 users logged into Scour sharing 2,854,411 files (10.76 Terabytes), and not just MP3's. [This message has been edited by SysOpt (edited 07-28-2000).] jacobnero8196 07-28-2000, 10:56 PM I can't get on to any of napsters servers myself, the only one I can get on is MyNap. I finally downloaded Scour but am sad to report that hollywood is suing them so who knows if they'll be around for long. Doesn't matter though because I keep finding more file transfer programs. CMonster 07-29-2000, 04:51 AM I bet the hard disk companies are glad too! ck42866 07-30-2000, 07:46 AM Does Scour Exchange have one server to attribute the high Terabytes rating? Just wondering http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif [This message has been edited by ck42866 (edited 07-30-2000).] jacobnero8196 07-30-2000, 07:43 PM I think there are many servers which are linked together to form one large server. That way someone on server 1 can transfer files with someone on server 39. I could be wrong though ! SysOpt.com
