Hi all,
I have a question, why is it I can dial-up from a friends computer, to the same connection # as mine, and get connected at 45333 bps, and on my computer I can't get any more than 26400 bps?
We both have 56K Data Fax Modems, but my friends is a V90, is this the reason?

Yeah, that could be it if your ISP uses v.90 only ANS they are not back compatible to x2 or whatever. Try your freind's modem in your machine to be sure.
It may also be your phoneline. Try the USR modem test line using Hyper Terminal. The # is 847-262-6000. Just say no to graphics, and login as line and the password is test to see what is happening.
Hope this helps

Like the above post says, Its most likly your phone line. IT all depends on which router and switch your phoneline is hooked to in your towns central office. If its a new one, you'll probably get the 43+ if its an older one you'll be stuck at 26,400. At my house we have 3 phone lines. ANd only one is 56k compatable because its on a newer switch in the central office. And of course that phone lines not in my room, i'm stuck at 24,000. lol

Well actually, Both puters are in the same house. I live in the basement and my friend owns the house. The Phones were all hooked up at the same time seeing as the house is only a year old and am assuming they are pretty much the same from basement to upstairs!
I D/L Tweakdun, but am unsure as to how to set it to help out my connection. Any tips on settings I should put into it would be greatly appreciated!
