Hi,
I hope it's ok to post this,
I'm doing some research about the labour market for certified MCSE's in the field. I wonder if you could help with a few questions..?
1.What are the working conditions and hours?
2.What is a job description of this occupation?
3.What are the physical/mental demands of this occupation?
Thanks,
I really appreciate your help....
Zak...

Those jobs vary greatly, the ones where I work have to drive at a moments notice up to 100 miles, sometimes just to re-tighten a loose monitor cord. Mostly these guys work network problems and install new machines. Seldom do they run into problems real hard, then they have a systems analyst to rely on for help, this is not always the case. Some companies could expect you to diagnose a problem from a description given by an executive who doesn't have the slightest idea of what he's talking about. So stress can be a factor that may be understated by the prospective employer. I'm not MSCE certified so I can't give a qualified answer, just I've studied our IT Techs jobs and have decided it was not for me.. just my $.02 , DrVette
Thanks for your reply DrVette, I appreciate any info I can get. I'm looking at taking an MCSE course, and trying to get some backround information on what job duties are involved in a typical day.
Zak.....
I'm not MCSE certified yet... working on it! But vette is right about the jobs varying... the certification is geared toward networking and NT4/2000. So any job you may find can simply be a result of an employer appreciating your efforts to getting certified, and not because you have the certification for NT4/2000.
Either way, it certainly can only help... but be aware that experience counts just as much, if not more, as any certification. Currently, I'm in the web development field and love it. I'm only continuing my MCSE endeavor because it's something I've always wanted under my name. It's not for the money at all.
