I think I read somewhere about a modem that will separate the phone signal from the PC, so that both can be used at the same time on one phone line. Anyone tell me anything about this? Thanks Ronnie

I think you maybe thinking of DSL!

You can use your PC on the DSL link and make a call/FAX/modem simultaneously on the same phone line.

Otherwise, I'm not sure if there's anything out there that is similar...

The upcoming V.92 modem standard supports "Data Hold" for users with Call Waiting. You can answer an incoming call without going off line. There may be a time limit for how long you can talk.

That sounds pretty cool! I dont expect too much technology to be going into modems with the advances in high speed internet (aka cable / dsl). Prices are way down on high speed also.
