I want to start using Voice Recognition software to save my poor fingers and so bought the appropriate software.

My problem is that my Soundblaster AWE64 Gold has too weak a signal for the mike. I don't want to replace the mike because it was expensive.

Is there any way to boost the input levels?

Thanks,

Jon

Adequate microphones are usually available cheap, like under $10. Have you checked the connection at the card?
Also, check your Windows (assuming your using Win) audio levels in addition to your card's levels. Both are there and if Windows' level is down or muted, could be the problem despite the card's settings.

Having a good quality mike is important for voice recognition. The cheapy mikes reduce the recognition accurancy.

The windows settings didn't solve anything. I really needed a gain control for the card but I don't believe there is one for the AWE 64 Gold.
