probably 3 or 4.

(your computer must suck, cuz mine is a completely overloaded Win98 (that is, the kernel is utterly bloated) with only 32mb RAM) http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif

i'm sure it's the fact that 98SE is such a memory hog. it's kernel is so completely bloated that it's not even funny.

also, you may be running lots of programs (that would need to be shut down) and/or loading lots of programs on StartUp (that would have to start up).

I (personally) think that Win95c is the best of the 9x's. It's very stable (not unlike NT 3.51) and is quite fast (because the kernel is quite simplified), even if you don't have a whole bunch of memory. just stick IE 5.5 on it, and it acts EXACTLY like 98, but without all the ****. In all honesty, i think that if you're not going to have NT or 2K, then 95c is THE best. well, just my opinion anyway.

I have to agree on the Win95. Not sure about c but I have B with all the updates.
My 166@188, 75fsb, 64mb ram ATX shuts down in about 3 seconds, boots up in about 15 or so. It opens programs faster than Win98....Word in about 1 sec. But I also dont have any **** running at startup http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif

It's much more stable than my Win98 PII350 box and can take a beating and recover...unlike Win98

takes 32 seconds to load up, 4 to shut down, so you do the math...

win2k rules.
