Ok, I need a cheapscate printer. It has to be color and it has to make good looking images on cheap paper, and excelent looking images on my overpriced paper. Cartrige price is not an issue, as I refill my own, and they usualy come with one cartrige. It also has to be an ink jet or lazer printer to use my glossy paper and transparencies. I know that a cheap lazer color printer is $1000 though, so I am looking at ink jet. Any sugjestins would be appreciated.

If ya would settle for a bubblejet instead of an inkjet, I suggest you take the Canon BJC 3000.

I myself have the 2000, which costed 110USD, and it is a very good quality printer.
I got a photoprint cartridge for it, and those printed photos look awesome.

My parents have the 3000, and it also is a very fine printer, costed about 130USD, but that still isn't expensive.

Hope this helps a little.

I learned my lesson with this bublejet bjc-240, most printers are rated in pages per minute, this is actualy rated as minutes per page, and it looks like s***.

Then I think the problem lies in the earlier printers of Canon, cause mine does a great job, never had any complaints whatsoever.

But hey, it's your choice, so you have to choose.

I recently bought an Espon Stylus 740 from Buy.com. It cost $115 with free shipping and Espon had a $50 rebate. Total cost after rebate: $65.

In the stores and everyplace else online it was listed at $149 before rebate. I am very statisfied. Prints well on cheap paper and prints very well on photo paper.

At buy.com ( http://www.us.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=10009779&loc=6551 ) it is now listed at $126.95.

They don't have free shipping right now but you can get the rebate at epson.com ( http://www.epson.com/whatsnew/promotions/colorstylus_50back_coupon.html )

Killerbug,

There was recently a buy.com/e-stamps.com special on the HP Deskjet 930C printer. It was free with rebate. The promotion is unfortunately over, but there seem to be a lot of them new on e-bay going for about $150. I don't know how good it is, though.

Anyway, the supply seems endless and the price is bound to fall.

I just installed an Epson Stylus 440 for my chiropractor. He needed a printer that would work with Win3.1 as well as 95. Many new printers dont support Win3.1

Office Depot is selling them out at $49.95 each. I only saw a few pages but it looks nice.

If you want a cheap printer, which provides okay quality and isn't TOO much of an ink guzzler, try out an HP Deskjet 612c... I use one for occasional printing... Not high quality printing.

I say go with the HP 612c. I have one. It's well rated for a low end printer, prints well, and looks very nice.

I've got an Epson 440 that I got last year some time for $150. Prints great even for that price and if you can get them for $50 now?? Sheeee. One thing you can bank on for these things... I can use an ink cartridge twice w/out running it out of ink. At least the black ones. The one I'm using now has already 'run out' according to the printer utlities. I put it back in, and it's now 3/4s of the way thru it again and still printing perfect... Something to think about. Probably all the newer inkjets are like this though.
