Thank you for ordering from eCOST.com.
Your order has been temporarily backordered in our
warehouse. This usually means that we are waiting
for a shipment from the manufacturer and will make
sure that your order is handled quickly when the
shipment arrives. A'holes, or am I overreacting? DrVette , gee I hope I got THIS one in the right forum! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

You're NEVER likely to hear any different from any sales-person or sales program.....

They are there to get your money....

They are all trying to be first to market and to get the timing right, but some over-estimate what they are able to deliver and you see this problem.....

And reputation rides on the fence....

So don't sweat it too much unless they take more than 2 weeks confirming the product is on the way.... I know - I know - the rest of the system is built & screwed together waiting on that processor......

Life is "hurry up & wait" - get used to it.... You'll experience less disappointment

Been there... You have my empathy, which will not speed up delivery of your Celeron. Just statin' the REAL obvious: You're not alone! I've contacted the vendor over the phone and sought assurances an item was in stock, and usually that will tip me toward or away from a vendor. I cancelled a couple orders after receiving a message such as the one you received. But that can be more of a hassle than it's worth.

I am disappointed with your policy of advertising an item "in stock"
when
in fact it is not. Still you list on the techbargains page and on your
website my item of interest to me as "on the shelf". Granted I cannot
do
anything about this other than cancel my order, but I can divulge this
type of conduct to my on-line forums which between the three have
members of over 40 thousand. In addition I have work contacts which can
produce even more people who will then be wise to this type of
practice.
Either stop this unfair and misleading advertising or I/we will divulge
this info. You DO have an opportunity to correct this particular
situation without ramifications from me, IF you discontinue this false
advertising.. most sincerely,

And this is where your friendly neigborhood ResellerRatings (http://www.resellerratings.com/) comes in, too. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif

Sorry to hear about your frustrations with these guys, Doc. Sure seems like some businesses enjoy doing business in this despicable manner! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/frown.gif

Axel, I guess you overlooked my comment that I'd waited 2 mo. to order, I'm in no real hurry. Anyway "ECost.com" claims a "bug" in the system causes this prob.. uh-huh, sure. After a week and 3 days they still show it "in-stock" =>> http://techbargains.pricegrabber.com/search_getprod.php?masterid=54511&getprod=1 and on their site same story=>> http://www.ecost.com/home.asp?bounce=%2Fsales%2Fdetail%2Easp%3FDPNo%3D8 14487 Here's the response to the smoking letter I sent to Ecost =>> "To: doctorvettte@yahoo.com

Dear Sir,

backorder is not available at this moment. We apologize for the
inconvenience this may have caused you. The system is showing the item to be

keep everyone updated on the arrival of this item. At this time the
manufacturer has not given us a valid ETA. If you need further assistance
with your order or would like to cancel the order feel free to contact
us toll free at (877) 888-2678.
Again sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

Oh boy, look at their rating on reseller ratings. Boy, a big fat 4.8! I also learned the hard way about these kind of places. But, I stuck to them and they finally shipped out my processor. But hey, I can't complain. My P3-700cbo which I bought pretested to only 933 cranked up to 1050 right away. So, sometimes they can be misleading. Just check out RR before so that you can gain a bit of confidence.

I e-mailed www.techbargains.com (http://www.techbargains.com) about eCost and their false advertising policy AND cancelled my order at eCost. If they offer FREE 1.2ghz Athlon systems I'll never darken their doorway again. Note the response from techbargains/=>> From: "Techbargains.com" <info@techbargains.com>
