Has anyone else been poking around in their Napster folder? While scanning for viruses I noticed my scanner looking through a folder I didn't know I had... It's called "Incomplete" under the Napster directory (V2 Beta 6), and mine had almost 100 megs worth of incomlete MP3s! Now maybe I missed something along the way and this is common knowledge, but it surprised me and I thought I'd pass it along. This folder wasn't shared on my system but hey, 100 megs is 100 megs...

that is where the mp3's that were not completely downloaded place most likely (if I remember right) when you go to complete the download.... they should be placed into the regular part of the directory.
that was with the older version and how it was explained to me....

I had a severe problem with Napster and it's "folders." The thing is, I made Napster download all mp3's into one folder. Well, after using it for several days I noticed something weird. The "Music" folder under Napster showed to be something like 60gigs! Apparently Napster did something to make VERY long listed files and make them show up as extremely big. I could not delete the folder; not in ANY method. The only way I got rid of it was to format my hard drive. I couldn't install Win2k or update any virus software because it would scan for viruses on that hard drive and sit in the napster folder forever. Wonder if anyone else has had this problem? Euhm!

That is the place that incomplete mp3's go, the songs are NOT complete so don't put them into your main folder called "music". Otherwise other people can upload them and since there incomplete they aren't worth uploading. So why is the folder there you ask ?? Because if you get say 95% of a MP3 you still may want to play it, although I wouldn't try burning it to disc.

there is an option in napster to tell it what to do when a song does not finish. You can change it to delete the part it got (which is what I do now). Yeah it was kind if wierd to notice that my hard drive was smaller by about 500 megs...
Well it's obviously for incomplete songs, as I originally said. But when a download doesn't finish I always righyt click on it and select "Delete/Abort" or something along those lines and I always assumed that it was gone. Apparently Napster likes holding on to these parts of songs. I couldn't find a way to get it to delete them automatically last night, although I didn't look very hard.
Resume files? Ha! When was the last time you were able to do that on Napster? lol

Eli,
read my post above, it explains how to automatically get rid of the songs http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
Actually your instructions were vague at best, but after a little searching I did find the option you had mentioned. Still, you can select where complete downloads go... If there was an option to change this directory than maybe more people would be aware that it exists in the first place.
