I have been thinking about buying one of those webcams, but know frightfully little about them or what makes one god or not. I seem to have decided in my mind that the Creative Labs Video Blaster WebCam 3 is the one for me, but I'm not sure what I'm basing that on. It does seem to have decent resolution, will upload pictures to my web site automatically, and is a decent price. But is it ****? Is there a better alternative in the same price range? Not looking for anything too fancy here. Thanks.
The best review of cameras I've seen was on TV -
Here is the link to the website of the ZDTV show Screensavers which comes on cable TV here in the DFW area -
They did a great review on webcams - look at this site and look up their recommendation.

Basically - you can get a cheap one to start for about $120 - to get something worth having that won't be out of date next week will cost a bit more.

Thanks for the advice. I did check the ZDTV site previously and was not able to find any active links. I've also looked at the user reviews on this site. I'd just like to know if anybody has any real world experience with this one, or one in a similar price range.

Stay away from parallel port. USB is the way to go if it is an option for you. Much smoother it is.
