Does anyone know of any online? A few close friends of mine, when I am trying to explain what's wrong with their computer or try to explain HOW or WHY something does what it does, I just end up talking in circles. I try to put it as simple as I can without losing the meaning, but it rarely comes out that way. (yes, I no english major!)

I did a little searching around, but all I found was a TON of 404 errors. I sometimes wonder the real purpose for search engines anymore.

well, i'd just like some central place to point them to so they (or I) can enter a computer term (OpenGL) and be able to return a decent explaination of what it is and does.

thanks

Hey Gradius, give this a try.
http://www.maximumpc.com/terminator/index.html

Maximum PC is also a great magazine for computer users at all levels and at 12 issues for $12 it is not a bad deal at all.

You could also take a look at www.whatis.com (http://www.whatis.com)

Thanks everyone. garybeafl, that site was exactly what I was looking for. I think I had it bookmarked a while ago, but after an install of Win2000, I got rid of a bunch of links I didn't visit.

Dont ever buy any computer dictionary unless it has an entry for "thunking"

Another reference I highly recommend is "Newton's Telecom Dictionary" written by Harry Newton, published by Flatiron Publishing. - You can get it from http://www.amazon.com I can't go a month without mine....

It's mostly telecom and network stuff, but also has some PC references in it.
