I have a PC in my lounge and it always seems so noisy. There is a constant hum coming from it, which I assume is a fan.
Is there any solution to this? Any near silent fans?
Regards,
Jon

Jon,
I've been wanting to get one of these:
Silencer (http://www.pcpowercooling.com/products/power_supplies/ultra_quiet/index.htm)
Thats the whole power supply, the same site also sells just the fan.
Silencer Fan (http://www.pcpowercooling.com/products/alarmandaccesories/silencerfan/)

On my HP, it emmitted a growling sound I took to be the HD. Wrong, it was the folded fin heat sink on the AMD cpu. Replaced it with a $12 unit, Quiet.. DrVette

I use Silencer fans exclusively, I have 6 of them RIGHT behind my head and dont notice em... http://b.PostMyPic.com/b.nsf/Z/Sysopt+pic2ZQSW/$file/Sysopt+pic2.jpg you may also want to check this out for quieting existing fans within your system http://www.heatsink-guide.com/psplug.htm as always...monitor your temps http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

I recall that screenshot from a previous thread here and have been thinking about it since.
You know where I can get a stand like that?
My back is getting worse, and am looking for a setup that will let me recline.
Is that think fairly sturdy, or do you have to be gentle on the keyboard?

Thank-You very much for taking the time to post the links for me King http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
Yes, I've seen the "bargan" arms before, but I wouldn't want to trust them either.
Would rather pay for something solid and sturdy. I have been trying to figure out something, and keep thinking back to that first picture you posted. Seems like you got the best idea.
Thanks again for doing that. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

Totally sturdy I can pound on it without a waver...its actually a deskmount that I put on a post bolted to the floor...this particular "monitor arm" is rated for 100 pounds and my 19" weighs about 55 so no biggie, can move it up and down and back and forth with 1 finger due to the built in adjustable counterbalance...got it from these fine folk http://www.innov-office-prod.com/welcome.html --->this is the one I have http://www.innov-office-prod.com/Products/MonitorArms/9034.html I used the "earthquake" platform (dont want that 19 in my lap http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif) a thru desk mount with the adjustable k/b rest...im sure youve seen em at your office supply store for 39$, this was over 10 times that...but worth every single penny, VERY high quality... http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
